What info are you missing? The quests themselves appear to be all there?

Is it possible to bring ogaming's smart quest search form back to this site? Maybe only parts of it.

For us european players it was very useful to search within the quest text (e.g. questmob names), because we have different quest titles.

It is very nice to see that you are listening to the audience and try to optimze the service.

Best thing yet was to remove these annoying commercial popups. I can live with banners, because a web site needs some infrastructure sponsors, I know. :)

So, keep the good things coming and improve the site.

I wish you a great christmas season and all the best for 2007.

regards

arthax

PS: Maybe you should hire someone to create a nice theme for the site. It looks a little bit ... errrm ... outdated (Sorry, for being straight forward on this one!)

I have to agree with the other complaints in this thread. The search is slow, the forums are slow, the interface is clumsy, most of the up-to-date useable content on O-gaming was user submitted comments, which are missing.

Do you people even read? The comments/discussions for the database elements are being brought over. The site has been redirected for a day. Cripes give it some time.

One of the searches I tried here said I needed the Firefox plugins, which I'm not going to install. The forum search said I needed premium membership, which I'm not paying for.

Which search specifically asked for a Firefox plugin? I'd like to see.

Trying to comment on this thread took well over a minute to bring up this reply form. In that time I looked up three quests on MMOdb.com.

Yeah. The entire site was running dog slow this afternoon. I'm not sure if they were doing imports or what, but yeah. It was like molasses for a couple hours.

Then you have what looks to be a moderator or admin calling the commentors in this thread Jackasses and that they need to take a "nap". Whatever. If that's what I can expect from this new site, y'all can keep it. Why don't you try to listen to the people's complaints instead of writing them off as 'whiners'.

Dohmee. You have two classes of dissenters that have presented themselves since the cutover. You have the civil, constructive complainers. These people are, like everyone else who complains, generally annoyed and disappointed with one or more aspect of the new combined site. They articulate their grievance well and present themselves like adults. The site admins, in general, have seen these requests and in many cases (sorting quest search results, cost answers, bringing comments over, etc.) worked swiftly to correct and improve the site based on the feedback.

On the other hand you have people who take one glance, don't try to improve anything or air their problems reasonably, rather they fly in, register a board account called something infinitely clever like 'allasucksballs' or 'ihateallalolzor' and break out with wonderful insight such as "wtf alla sucks ***", "***** this it doesn't have {insert 'obvious work in progress if they would bother reading first' here} anymore", or just simply "Jerks". Yes, these people are jackasses and need to take naps.

one thing i am really glad of is that it looks like were getting rid of a lot of moaners and whiners, which can only be a good thing.

can all you people who post decent replys stay and help get this site as we like it please. and all the "this site sucks" people maybe just dont come back?

and to all the posters that have actualy gave advice or offered ways to improve, pat yourselves on the back and know that most of us apreciate you :)

and also a quick thanks to the admins for actualy replying and taking suggestions onboard.

with the forums could we start by reducing font size? and maybe cganging the awful colours? there thats my ranting over hehe

Complaints are to be expected when you change from one format to another. I must say that my opinion has changed quite a bit from my first post on the new site.

Quote:
1) This website is entirely free. Every feature currently on EQ2 Allakhazam is available without logging in. You don't need an account and furthermore, you don't need a premium account.

This was my concern because I did not trust the site owners to keep the information free. I now believe that the intentions are good and that the information will stay free.

Please stop using this as a stick to beat at the opinions that are not your own. It was mentioned to me when I voiced my concerns, and it seems to come up more often when there is debate. Post it as a sticky. The people with the concerns don't care, they just want their concerns heard.

First off I would like to start out by saying thanks to Ogaming for all they did for Eq2. Second I would like to apologize to everyone for my grammar.
Now to point, I remember the countless hours spent using Allakhazam to answer almost all my questions during my EQ1 days, I have no doubt they will rule once again with EQ2 given time and help from players like myself.
So my question is how can I help, I tried posting some quest information two days ago and I’m not seeing it anywhere today, could you please point me to a FAQ or link that will better explain the process so I may get started on making this site a better place.

Johnny, check out Bodhi's Guide to Submitting Information. It details the links you need, what info should be included with submissions if possible, and other tidbits. Submitted info goes through at least some small amount of QA and formatting manually before it is committed to the DB, so if something that you submit doesn't show up right away, don't sweat it. Just keep filling in stuff that you see missing and it will all get up there in good time.

I did not like the ogaming site. Although I did use it alot as it had the info I needed. The more I got used to it the more I liked it. I like this site as it is faster all the info is still here from ogaming just in a little different format. I am sure the more you use it the better you will like it.

Thank you Stugein, that was exactly what I was looking for. Great job in responding so quickly. Now let’s all pitch in and get this puppy up to snuff.

I seldom rate people down. I usually go out of my way not to rate people who I find myself disagreeing with or having a debate with. As you mentioned rating someone down just because of a disagreement is silly.

However when a poster such as the one that got rated to oblivion comes on and starts trolling, flaming or antagonizing an admin then I usually use the rate button.

Sure, you don't have to pay to recieve the info nice people put onto ogaming, you just have to dodge the commercials while waiting 30 seconds after each click you make. It's really free!!

Quote:
2) Our management hasn't changed; it's in fact better then ever before. In addition to the all of the EQ2 OGaming admins coming over, we've also added an admin from Allakhazam, in addition to the entire Allakhazam support team which makes it possible to do changes, upgrades and additions to the website faster then ever before.

I have no opinion on Allahsharia's corporate structure, since there is no way to get credible info for the ordinary user, but I really don't care who's behind it all, I just want ogaming back.

Quote:
3) User comments couldn't be moved over; however, everything else from the EQ2 OGaming database has been converted into the newly programmed database. In fact, the EQ2 Allakhazam database has more content then the EQ2 OGaming database EVER had.

I've already read on the forums several complaints over things not being moved over replied by admins : "Well, that is just technically impossible" and a few days later: "Now we (moved your precious comments over, f.ex.) so stop whining"
The allahsrazicio database may be more extensive, but we ogaming fans got exactly what we needed from ogaming!!!! What could you possibly add?? More adds??? And then bragg about it?????

Now at this point I've read quite a lot of admin comments telling people to shut up about ogaming and just tell them, what could possibly be wrong with this great new site we've all been forced into, in a constructive way.

I admit I haven't been constructive in my criticism, but like soo many others I've talked to in the EQ2 chats, I feel betrayed by some people I can only refer to as Allahkahzam. I think many of the strong critics will not even take the loooooong time to create an account and figger out how to use this forum to make this sort of complaint in any relevant forum category. (OK, the Allanhehish server has been faster this hour, but this is a first for me)

It generally all boils down to this simple fact: We don't want to waste our precious time telling Allah's people why they should stop messing up a nearly perfect site like ogaming.
If you change something perfect, every difference will be a flaw!!! (Add almost and nearly where relevant)

It doesn't help at all to hear admin's tell people to take a hike and STFU when these same people probably were the ones who made the ogaming server worth using.

You say we won't be missed?? I cannot foresee the validity of that statement, but I can tell you all that our INFO would be missed, were we able to withdraw it all from the Allah's server.

If I remember correctly, Allas didnt buy out Ogaming but they were bought by a parent company. So if you wish to put the blame at someones feet you can blame Ogaming for selling or the elusive parent co for making the decision to merge them here. Trust me, the alla vets are still grumbling about Allas selling out, so we know how you guys feel. On the other hand make sure you're ******** is correct as Allah is not wholly responsible for what we are all dealing with.

Are there at least plans to add a more specific quest search like we had at ogaming? The current one seems kinda rudimentary only to me

I miss ogaming and would even take an offline copy :-/

Hey Akira is here too :)...I'm happy to see a lot of old faces (names?) over here now as I go through thread to thread. Do all the old timers get slated as "Heros of Ogaming"...or do some of us get to be just "Decent" lol.

Anyway, glad to find a home again off the official boards.

Ogaming quest comments have been moved to this site. Users have noticed some bugs related to the Ogaming comment database migration and the Allah staff are chasing down the ghosts in the code.

I just wanted to point out a few things that have been mentioned before but people don't seem to quite grasp yet.

1) This website is entirely free. Every feature currently on EQ2 Allakhazam is available without logging in. You don't need an account and furthermore, you don't need a premium account.

so those that have paid for premium accounts have been hosed so to speak ??? or is alla gonna refund are money ???? or wait its free right now but in the future all Ogaming users will have to pay for a premium subscription and its just free until you get all the info you can out of them ????? now that sounds more like it !!!!!
