Yep, getting exactly the same thing, timed out, or can't connect. Was playing, then logged out for an hour, now can't get back in, weird.

The game just booted me and I can't get back in, so there seems to be a problem at least.

The whole scanning for update bit just will not complete.

Getting the same thing. Timing out when running the Launchpad for EQII, can't connect to eq2players.com, can't sign in to the offical forums (can still connect to the page though), and oddly enough can't connect to the patcher for EQ1.

Is the whole SOE network crashing? Did the Grinch steal Frostfell?

Remember that time I mentioned the whole 'zoning out/not being able to log in' issue and people said 'it doesnt affect me so who cares' well, good luck with that.

In other news it is Tuesday and 7am pst so they are probably implementing a hot patch or something.

I thought LU30 was coming today (or was it tomorrow) as it was basically the Frostfell patch and some changes to the combat system (nerfing mobs, so calm down). But again where I can't connect to EQ1 as well I'm wondering if something happened to the entire SOE infrastructure.

I'm getting the message too. I'm on the west coast. Is it just this side of the country or has it hit all areas?
#11 Dec 12 2006 at 7:31 AM Rating: Decent
Oh no. I am in Texas in having the same issue.

"looks like a big storm just passed through thee area where sony is may have knocked out power to their local server farm"

That raises an interesting question: Do you think SOE is insured against stuff like that? Like is there a virtual world insurance package by Liberty Mutual that insures you against money lost from virtual planet death?

Seriously though, the number of people that will be spamming the offical boards with "SOE suXX0rz" is going to be staggering. Remember that nothing is ever accidental or beyond control: SOE does it all on purpose.

Long live the narrow-minded

SOE is based in San Diego right ? I'd be surprised to find out that the server farms do not have stand alone generator back up systems. About 3.5 years ago(?) California suffered through the summer of rolling blackouts and many business at that time learned the hard way - either go black or invest in an alternate solution.

veering off topic ..>

The company I worked at bought two huge diesel backup generators - what happens is when PG&E hits a certain threshold for power demand they would phone up our facility operations manager and request that we fire up our generators.

Back on topic ..>

Radio reports that SF got 1 inch of rain in 3 hours - for non California folks thats a lot of rain for us. Our yearly rainfall totals (not including the Sierra Nevada mountains) are usually in the 17-20 inch range.

Heh, the game is back up but as buggy as I've ever seen. Zoned in the Peacock Club and all of the sudden the game no longer accepts the fact that I have the DoF expansion, a bit of a problem. Right now I'm in Antonica, for some reason.

Might be better to just wait a while longer.
