Good morning, AllaK's - 12/11/06Follow

Happy Monday, folks.

Finally downloaded the EoF expansion. After being without my gaming PC (bad power supply) since right before the expansion release, this weekend was all new to me.

Loping Plains instant review: Hey devs, cool it with the mob placement density already. Light can't get through the space in between mobs in that zone ffs.

Decided to pick up tinkering. Seems odd to me that they created a "walk-away" tradeskill like that. Skill-ups come on combine completion whether you pass or fail and the quality of the item created is no different from the second tier up to pristine. Plus there are no events to counter You stock up on items, grab a seat at a work bench, hit combine and walk away to do other things. Glance back every minute or two in order to hit "repeat" and you're golden. I haven't decided if I like the hands-off feeling or if I'm disappointed in the lack of interaction.

Did the first couple Innoruuk quests. I'm not big on "running around" quests, but the stories behind them were fun and I'm looking forward to doing the subsequent ones. I'm not sure I completely get the point of tribute/sacrifice points for those skills. 2 uses? One at a time? Meh. As they are they are far too powerful to allow people to have unlimited use of, but I think I'd prefer having unlimited charges of much weaker abilities than a couple charges of big bombs. I just started with the expansion, but so far I haven't seen any permanent benefits to diety alignment.

Started on the MMShield HQ. Stuck on the silly transmuter combine requirements for it.

I hate hate hate that they combined the brokers. Really, are they even trying to keep up the illusion of enemy cities any more?

Attention cloth robe wearers who also have their cloaks visible: /showcloak. Use it. You look retarded.

Went to the Eagles v Redskins game down at FedEx field. A disappointing loss to a divisional opponent, but an exciting game none the less. The second half comeback made it a cheer-worthy game, even if we petered out in the end and couldn't quite get it done.

Spent a ton of time clearing out Mistmoore Catacombs (Go go LDoN!). Neat zone. Very fun.

How was your weekend?

this was the same thought that ran through my husband and my mind when we saw the catacombs. There are a few instanced zones that have the exact same feel and it was such a great nostalgic feeling.

Brokers, Im not sure why they decided to combine them. I agree with you that it does seem to take away from the seperation of the two cities, but I know at least on PVE servers they had the black market up. On the other hand, I must say I do enjoy being able to see the prices on both ends so I can price accordingly.

I'm still trying to figure out whether I enjoy LP or not. I love it for the vast amounts of shineys available, but there are a ton of mobs to get around. Maybe the devs made a math calculation that in order to have X shinys you need Y Mobs multiplied by 300?

Don't know what lvl you are, but if you are at or near 70, try and get a group to do the blight instance. If you're into storylines, take the time to read everything there, it's pretty amusing. There is a quest near the fairy outpost on the way to the Blight where you need to find scrolls within the dungeon. Read the scrolls and get a chuckle.

One thing I do really enjoy about the expansion is the differences of the instances. There are a few really cool surprises and traps within, my favorite being Valdoon.

Overall I am enjoying the expansion, if not the accompanying patch Smiley: frown.

Mistmoore Castle/Catacombs is great. Challenging and huge. Also fun, ran it last night with guildies and it was nice to be pulling with surveil. For a long time that hasn't been necessary. It is easy to just do loops around the place and farm it. Also the ring event in the castle isnt too shabby.

Crypt of Valdoon is entertaining. Couple nice traps and the text for the end boss is highly amusing.

Obelisk seems blah.

Acadechism is a cakewalk, which is nice if you want easy masters. Not complaining though gives mid lvl 60 chars something to do other than KOS.

I enjoy Loping Plains. Lots and lots and lots of quests. plus a town outside of a city. Haven't seen that since the Thundering Steppes. Of course I have stealth so navigating the zone is easy enough.

I think I have been having the most fun in Lesser Fay. All lvl 50-60 content so it's green but the quest lines are fun and give nice gold bonuses, as well as trash loot for diety altar.

/sob

Supposedly the guild you and SK just joined is now adding tons of new requirements for recruits. You guys seem to have gotten in at the right time. Ha Im not sure if Ill be "uber" enough to join once I get back

As for me, Im now on a sabbatical from the game. I'm in the same guild Bhodi was a part of, and will be leaving when I return, but Ive got a lil one due any day now so I figured I would take the time off now as I wont have the time or energy to play in the next few weeks/months.

Pre-grats on the kids, DSD. First? Second? Ninth?

The EoF instances sound like a blast. I need to get into a good single group that wants to do the round-robin of group instances some time soon so I can see them all. I've really missed out the last few weeks.

LFay feels too linear. I think I'd enjoy it more if it were more open and had less horse stations.

thanks. Second one. First one is 4 yrs old.

Lfay doesnt have the feeling of someone creeping up behind your back ready to strike you at any moment that it did in EQ1. I miss that. I did get the Brownie spell though, just for the sake of vengence
