So can someone summarize EQ2 for me?Follow

I played EverQuest as a warrior up until level 31, and in retrospect I don't think I enjoyed it. I hated having pets stronger than me, having to beg for binds, having hours of downtime healing, the brutal death penalties, and ... ugh.

Anyway, I've been playing WoW for a few months and have enjoyed it a fair bit, but I am open to taking a look at something a little more hardcore than that.

Could someone be so kind as to explain how EQ2 compares with EQ (up until Kunark, I have no idea how it evolved after that), and WoW?

Oh, I should probably add that I was very discouraged by the inability of my warrior to solo effectively in EQ, and while I do like being able to do things alone in WoW, I prefer group play. As for the grind, WoW seems to be a good fit for me though I could put up with more grinding if the reward was worth it.

EQII is somewhere between EQ1 and WoW on the difficulty spectrum.

Oh and no death runs, and oppressive downtime.

For WoW, there are alot more solo content.

I'll disagree with that actually, especially the "alot" comment. There might be more, but it won't be by much if there is.

I've soloed my paladin to lvl 60 in WoW, it took me less time to solo my monk to lvl 60 in EQ II. Ofcourse, haven't hit 70 (as yet, at 68 now, last two lvls came quickly, but I've explored all outdoor zones and did about 200 quests or so, not that much left lol) solo and there were tough spots, plenty of them.

But ultimately, both games cater excellently to the solo player.

It just might be stated that EQ II has added more later for alts and for raids too.

(on a different note, I have lost all my 42 ability points yesterday, I do hope I get them back soon! Those are just too useful)

sounds like there are still a couple of bugs from the EOF expansion and this is one of them. I've read a few threads concerning this and other, quite funny, bugs ( anyone read the battle mage thread? too damn funny)
I'm sure that this will be fixxed very soon, but Ill keep my fingers crossed for you

Thanks! It got fixed today, luckily as I had no desire whatsoever to try and get them back the hard way lol.

I believe the trigger was the fact that for some reason my purchase of the eof expansion got cancelled (had a digital download myself) and that ofcourse messed up my achievement points (had about 7 or so new after the expansion)
(my experience with gm's in EQII has only been positive so far!)

default chat, which I guess went funky, was fixed as well today. I never knew there was an issue having never used default chat before. I still to this day type /gu for guild and /g for group chat. A few people in our guild were eerily silent for awhile and we couldnt understand why until some of us realized they were still trying to use default chat. I had to reteach a couple guildies to go back to using /gu lol

Yeah, it was fun, typing out a big text in reply to someone to then find out I forgot the /gu command Smiley: smile

Thank god you can actually redo that without having to type it again.

That was odd though, heh, they patched on an US holiday and immediately after that the default chat went buggy. And then they didn't even patch the next day.

Heh, it is still sony ofcourse, but they do seem a bit more concerned about things than I can remember from EQ I times.
