EoF. Am I gimped?Follow

#1 Nov 17 2006 at 7:12 AM Rating: Decent
Having not yet purchased EoF (I will get it, just not sure when) am I gimped without the additional achievement trees? I'd hate to think that the expansion is a "must have" in order to stay competitive. It's hard enough with all the twinked players as it is.
I must say I love the new horse animations. Giddy up :)

No you're not gimped. While EOF allows you to start gaining AA's at lvl 10, if you have the KOS expansion you can just wait another ten lvls and start gaining them by lvl 20. I assure you its not going to be that big of a deal. Leveling from 10 to 20 doesnt take much time a all.

The only thing you would miss now would be the lower lvl areas that are within the continent of Faydwer. But again, we've all lived without them this long. If and when you decide to buy the expansion you can always check them out with an alt or start a Fae char.

edited to add, EOF allows you to gain another 50 AAs, so a total of 100. You wont need those though until you have maxxed your first 50 AAs so take your time and dont worry =)

Thanks for the quick reply DSD. Further to the additional AAs, now that there's twice the AAs, will AA xp come twice as fast? I've noticed that's been the case so far, wondering if it's a constant or just playing catch-up.

Dont know about that but if I had to guess I would think they will not come twice as fast. A lot of your AA xp will be on discovering new areas all over the game, some blue quests. killing some blue or higher named mobs for the first time, etc. Once you hit lvl 70, your xp converts to AA xp as well.

The added AAs gives the vets something to work towards as the level cap did not increase with the EOF expansion. Whiel we also have a few new raid and group zones to check out, this is a nice incentive for us who have already reached the level cap and were twiddling our thumbs for a bit.

So for someone newer to the game and not yet having reached 70, I think you have time before you need to fully think about getting the EOF expansion. Unless of course, you are from EQ1 and want to really see Faydwer again =)
