What's Happened in the Past Year?Follow

#1 Nov 01 2006 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
I'm not an EQ2 player, but I play SWG (don't laugh:-p) and I'm trying to make a comparison to what the SWG devs have accomplished in the past year to date as opposed to what the EQ2 devs have accomplished (which isn't very much).

So I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to just give a quick rundown of the major fixes/additions to EQ2 over the past year. Also, bigtime cool events should be in the list as well.

If nothing else I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction so I can extrapolate the info myself.

So yeah, any help at all would be tanfastic. Please and thank you!

I can't possibly give you a "quick rundown" of what has changed or been fixed.

The list is huge!

Besides new content including expansions and adventure packs, there was:
class balancing & revamp
the combat revamp
zone and dungeon revamps
mob revamps and mob redistribution
the new starting island
the evolution of trade skills including removal of sub-combines
streamlining of harvested materials and the increase in rares
additional trade skill recipes across all levels for tailors & carpenters
major changes to consignment and broker systems
the addition of PvP
the addition of station exchange (buy items and plat for real money)
dueling on PvE servers
server merges
the removal of shard retreval
change to the death debt system
addition of tier 3 bird towers (for faster transportation)
the building of the spires (transport to tier 7)
the return of the Gods and the God quests
and countless other new quests and quest lines in existing zones
as well as countless minor tweaks and fixes

I'm sure I missed some things but those stick out in my mind!

I'm not sure why you're saying the EQ2 devs haven't done much. If you've already come to that conclusion why are you inquiring?

Compared to SWG and the NGE, well, yeah, I guess EQ2 didn't change that much. The EQ2 team didn't feel the need to change the game at the most basic levels, but then I'm not going to say that's a bad thing. That kind of wholesale revamp doesn't sit well with all players...

Anyway, here are the changes since launch. This is just the main parts of all the Live Updates, includes live events:
