Swashbucker / Brigant Solo-GamingFollow

Hello everybody!

My english isn't very good but i'll try my best.

I want to make a Scout in everquest 2. I want the best solo-gaming scout. I heard that the Rogues are the best scouts for sologaming.

Now I have to deceide Brigant or Swashbuckler. What are the differentiate between these two? Which charackter is better for 1on1 vs herotic enemys?

Thanks a lot!!

greetings,

Telnar

No class is designed or able to take on heroic mobs solo and succeed consistently. some classes can take a green triple up now and then but remember that they are GROUP mobs and so, are designed to be beaten by a group of players! That's why they drop better loot and yield higher XP.

Solo players require solo mobs and are only occasionally capable of a momentary flash of greatness. As an example, from time to time, I will draw aggro from a green heroic while soloing with my lvl 64 warden. Sometimes I win but even with the ability to self heal, most of the time, I lose and either have to eat the death or break the encounter. If the encounter is with blue or above, there is really not much chance at all.

Now, I know a lot of players on a lot of forums have laid claim to being able to take down heroic targets effortlessly but I think that for the most part, it's BS!

I think you need to adjust your perception of what is going to be enjoyable in this game. Your focus on wanting to play what someone else thinks is the "best scout" will not lead you to a rich gaming experience. No character is "best" in this game. All have strengths and weaknesses. Learning how to play your chosen class in spite of it's failings is what makes the game fun.

Bottom line here is play the class you think will best mesh with your playstyle and forget about being uber. If you become good at playing your character, uber will follow on it's own.

Regarding the classes you mentioned, Swashies and Brigands both do good damage.

As do Rangers and Assassins, with Assassins consistently leading in the T1 melee DPS race. However, it's doubtful whether any scout can out DPS a mage who is nuking full bore.

Swashbucklers do some excellent DPS with only slightly sub-par armor. I highly recommend them for soloing, just because there's a good chance that you'll be able to kill non-Heroic mobs before they kill you. Usually.

I would personally go with the Brigand becuase they have more knockdown/slowing abilitys so it is fairly easy to kite (slow em down run around and throw stuff at em) I have seen some level 52 Brigands solo level 52^^ mobs with ease (with the help of good food) getting better XP than with a full group. I havent seen much of swashys but I hear they have Great AoE attacks, very good for slayer/destroyer title farming.

As a 52 Brigand I am able to solo 48 ^^^ Heroics consistantly. On occassion there is a tough one here and there. The DPS, stuns, and other high-damage arts(like the deception line, especially with Master 2) allow the brigand to really handle heroics.

If you think it is BS come on over to Everfrost and I'll gladly demonstrate.

having played a swashy for 60 levels then switching to a Brigand i feel i can give you an accurate reading of both classes. First off, the Swashy.

Swashbucklers are a great class to play. As stated above in other replies they do more AE dmg. They get 2 AE skills and one AE passive buff which do more dmg than the 1 AE skill brigands get. If you are looking for a soloable class, any class will do it just depends on your skill. I learned that Swashies are a bit better when it comes to tanking. they seem to have more mit (also depends on gear). They also have more skills that increase threat threat priority (i.e. ghetto taunt)as well as many (about 3 or 4) skills to decrease aggro. if you know how to play a swashy, you can either take aggro or never get aggro.

Brigands: The reason i betrayed back to a brigand is for 1 reason -damage. brigands have the ability to do more dmg than a swashy. even if you have crappy armor and dont know the class that well, brigs have more dmg skills including a total of about 6 backstabs (as opposed to brigs having 2 if i remember right) and more frontal attacks. the down side is the AE. brigs get 1 AE spell which does not do as much dmg. but to make up for it you get an awesome skill that allows you to play dead then when you are attacked you will hit the mob for a large amount of dmg. at level 40 you can average hit about 2k with it. at 70 i have hit for up to 6.5k which for a rogue is pretty damn good. this skill is used mostly in soloing situations. Brigs also have more Debuffs and dmg over time skills which make them very useful in raids. 3 out of the 6 backstabs have DoT's attached to them and not to mention the much coveted skill dispatch.

So there you have it, my run down of the 2 classes. If i were to choose a class to solo with i would probably go with the swash even though a brig does more dmg, swash can tank a bit better. other than that, Brig all the way.

p.s. ignore any typos :)
