I have been a subscriber to Allakhazam for a long time. I have been coming here less and less over the last few months because this site never seems to be updated. I recently got the Desert of Flames expansion, came here to look up some info in the bestiary, and see not one mob in Sinking Sands. How long has it been out?

I have been taking screen shots for some time and would be happy to submit them if I knew this site will be updated. Is it too much to wish this EQ2 site would be the same as EQ1 in the beastiary and for loot?

In theory, there should be a merger with the O-gaming database, which is quite a lot better than this database. This was said to happen about half August, no update as yet.

I've asked the question at the "site and forum feedback", including if there was anything we could do to help too, but no response so far.

A pity, I hope that it doesn't last much longer.

yeah we were told there would be massive upheaval and updates specifically for EQ2 come end of August, but now its heading into October with nothing new. Its a shame really. For such a decent game and an amazing forum community, the facts for said game is dismal. Its been silent on info from admins on to what is going on and when.

Allakhazam is having a ***** of a time finding a isp that will house them with all their traffic. So the new servers and all the hyped changes are on hold.

I hope the site f'ucking flops.

You hit the nail on the head there from what i've heard. Fact is, Allakhazam is one of the most visited sites on the web. Awhile back Alla posted what number they were somewhere... I can't remember if it was in the top 100 or not, but it was some crazy number of hits per day like 10k or more or something from UNIQUE IP addresses. In the end he may have to go straight to some corperate ISP or something rather then a mainstream one... or get their own set-up somehow and host it themself.

A T3 costs $7500 to $14,000 per month. The hardware cost is a fraction of that. If this site and O-Gaming don't make enough to cover that the IGE made a poor buying decision. Unless they just really want to own all the major MMO web sites....

Hmm... This sounds like a recording contract. They plopped a chunk of money on the table for Alla and he grabbed it, but in the long run it was really nothing. He can't afford to keep the site up so he bails. IGE is left with the real prize - the content and the name.

Wild speculation is fun! :)

Indeed it is, it would be more fun imo if we were told this by admin. Sure, it's not really our business as mere users to hear about every single problem with the runnings of this site, but something as major as a complete overhaul of the EQ II part is pretty interesting to get updates about.

I hate to say it, but it looks like I'll be going to this site http://eq2.mmodb.com/ to send my updates and work with them. It's a shame to see the changes at Allakhazam's as it has always been my favorite site. Oh well. Time marches on...

Allakhazam’s was my one stop shopping for EQ1. I could always find what I needed, and was more than willing to pay for the abundance of knowledge. But now when I visit the site for EQ2 it’s a let down. I’m not sure why I come to the site anymore. I’d assume it’s out of habit, but once on the site my visit is sort lived.

Alla,
You have a great site with a lot of faithful clients. Please step it up or lose them.

When I first started coming to Alla's I was brand spankin' new to EQ and so I had nothing but questions. Time passed and I was actually able to respond to some of the posts that I saw! And through it all, the community, the database and the bestiary were all there to help me figure out whatever questions I needed to research.

When I moved over here to the EQ2 boards I found the same helpful network of players and a database, (with mod), that was in need of attention but was at least making an attempt.

Flash forward a year and a half and we have a DB that is in tatters... virtually no relevent information, almost no evidence of a moderator and a small but loyal group of veteran posters.

We who are left tend to field questions and provide (satisfactory) answers in short order but without a DB to back us up, there is not much we can offer a new or returning player beyond a sense of community.

I will remain. I'll be here when they lock the doors! I guess I figure it's the least I can do in exchange for all the help and information I received when I was a noob.

But I can't help wishing things were different and that this site was a place where people wanted to go first because the details were timely and the information plentiful.

Maybe things will change for the better and maybe not... either way... I'll keep hangin' around!
