Yes, you can change your character's appearance by going to a Barber, I know there's one in Qeynos, not sure if there's one in Freeport, I would imagine there is though. Ask the guards or use your waypoints to find the barber.

Different from SWG but still very involved and fairly complex...

There are nine different classes of crafter. Ultimately, you can only choose to do one thing and once chosen, it can never be changed.

Your choices fall into three different areas;

Scholars can become alchemists, sages or jewelers.
- Alchemists make fighter spell upgrades and also make all the poisons potions and other chemicals used by players.
- Sages make spell upgrades for all priest classes and for all mage classes.
- Jewelers make spell upgrades for scout types and also make jewelery.

Outfitters can become weaponsmiths, armorers or tailors.
- Weaponsmiths make metal weapons, (like swords hammers and such).
- Armorers make plate and chain metal armor
- Tailors make cloth and leather armor, hex dolls, backpacks and casual clothes

Craftsmen can become carpenters, woodworkers or provisioners.
- Carpenters make furnature, rugs and other house items and also storage boxes & vendor sales containers.
- Woodworkers make wooden weapons, (like bows and staves), totems, harvesting tools and shields.
- Provisioners make food and drink.

All your crafting is done in a crafting instance. (unless & until you can afford to purchase crafting devices from a status merchant)

Most of your materials can be harvested with the few remaining items being vendor sold.

There are rare harvest items in each tier and these can be crafted into higher stat more valuable "mastercrafted" items. Creating these items will require special recipes that are mob dropped or broker purchased. All common items can be created using vendor purchased recipe books.

That should cover the basics. Ask if you need further details on specifics.

(edited to add details)
