DPS Class QuestionFollow

So ive decided to try out eq2. I am a veteran of WoW, i have played both a rogue and a fury warrior. I had a healer/caster/range dps but i found those to be boring. Really enjoy the melee dps. I was wondering if EQ2 offered anything like what the Fury Warrior is in WoW? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are really no good healers and melee'ers combined. Only Priests have regular and powerful healing available. If you are not a priest class, you MAY have an infrequent heal ability. Paladins do have a good heal, but they are a fighter class and will have low DPS.

The best DPS melee classes would be Assassin, Brigand, or Swashbuckler of the Scout class. I really enjoy my Brigand, with multiple attacks, debuffs, stuns, rear attacks, and agro-control. In fact, the agro control is the most fun. If I see the tank getting in trouble, I can jump several places in the hate list to make the mob face me. Then when I need to, I can slide back down the hate list so the mob turns his back. Not wise to turn your back to a Brigand. :)

Assassins have the single highest melee hit.

Here is a link to the SOE page that describes classes.

I believe "fury" is a spec (loadout) for a WoW warriors wherein they do much more damage than a defensively spec'ed warrior. The WoW abilities tree makes a much bigger difference in character capabilities (and limitations) than EQ2 Achievements.

I think the closest thing to what you're looking for would be a Berzerker. They're toe to toe melee plate tanks who are more offensively oriented than Guardians. They can still hold Aggro almost as well, if you really want to concentrate on tanking, equip a shield and use a defensive stance. Shadowknights, Monks and Bruisers can also do decent DPS, but in different ways. No fighter class will ever be able to do the type of damage a scout or mage does.

I play an assassin and I love it. Lots of damage, can wear chain so I can take *some* punishment, ranged for pulling, stealth for sneaking around...

Wish I was home so I could play, heh.

I've played both a Guardian and a Beserker so can only speak to those classes... but I've noticed that my 'zerker can take the same beating that the guardian does but puts out significantly more DPS. My 'zerker is now my main for that reason.
