I am just starting the game. My question arises from the multple expansion packs and upgrades.

As just a NOOB low lvl minion yet is there a need for the packs? Is there low lvl content in them, are there areas that I will not be able to explore without them and at what lvls would they be deemed necasary.

Would hate to invest in all the packs only to find out that I can't use any of the content untill higher lvls and even worse if I decide after couple months that the game is not all it seemed to be now.

I am just playing the Trial Isle now and so far I like what I see. I am a former FFXI veteran and WOW for a while (started great but there was none of the group efforts that I came to love in FFXI)

Well this is the first post on the ALA EQ2 forums and hope to be seeing ya'll in char soon.

The first you'll ever get a chance of coming into contact with the adventure packs is at lvl 20. That's the Splitpaw one (the first one) and can be played effectively up till lvl 50 (it scales to your lvl) so there's no real rush either.

The last adventure pack is for lvl 55 and higher.

None of the three adventure packs are absolutely necessary, nor really that much played by others. Splitpaw can be soloed, lots of parts of the Fallen Dynasty can be soloed too.

There are two expansions, but again, there's no need whatsoever before lvl 20. And this even only indirectly. The first expansion (Desert of Flames) will give no benefits whatsoever before lvl 40 (at least), the level range of the mobs starts at 44 or so I believe and ends up high 50's in the higher part of the zones.

Kingdom of Sky has areas to fight and explore in that are for lvl 50 to 70. Mobs start at lvl 54 I believe, so at 50 you'ld need a group. However, that expansion does add the achievement experience, which starts at lvl 20. (gives seperate abilities every time you complete an achievement point by exploring, finishing blue quests, killing blue mobs, collections)

So in short, don't worry too much about the expansions and adventure packs. You can buy the Kingdom of Sky expansion and get the original game free with it. I'ld advise that actually, don't worry much about the rest.

And I hope you'll enjoy this game!

OMG !!

I logged up and got the digital download of the full version and have been in a prisoner of the dreaded update for the last 8 hr.. I have had to restart the whole thing over more than a few times because it had seemed to hang.

Not a good sign of things to come.

Well as I said earlier. I really do hope to see you all in CHAR soon.

I just can't believe that SOE does not have BW to handle faster DL's. I am capable of 1.5M up and down.

It is something we have all had to endure. It is the pains of all MMO's. Ask the ex-WoWers how long it takes just to try to sign into their servers.

once the initial hell that is the download is done, you will never have to do that again.
