I placed my monkey in my one room inn,and clicked on the option "look here".
As soon as I did he disapeared but I can still here him chattering. How do I get him back again?

If you truly can't see it, perhaps you can try the collect all items function. Ofcourse, might not get everything in your inventory at once. I have no idea how to target anything in your inn without seeing an item I'm afraid.
I've also been told by people that they can't see my pet, but they can still target it.
It might be an issue with the game, and you might need to restart EQ2, or your computer to fix it.

I left the house and re-entered,I was able to finally see the monkey again.

I was going to suggest the unruly monkey might need a spanking but then I thought better of it.
I have had other items vanish into thin air upon placing them in my room before. Rugs, chandaliers, a bed, but never live animals. They have all returned after I have left and re-entered or after the next update. I guess it's just a bug that likes to come out from under the bed once in a while.

I personally have had a similar instance in which I had finished a quest and recieved my reward, equiped to promptly find that the item was missing entirely from my inventory and "equiped" armor screen. Luckily I am not that uptight about such things and just let it go, but really things like this shouldnt be happening. I guess with such a massive game its hard to work out all the bugs though so no worries for me I suppose. Sorry to hear your monkey ran off!
How do you get a monkey? And does the game require that you spank your monkey?
You get monkeys when you buy the Desert of Flames expansion.
If you right click your monkey there is an emote for "Attack" and "Pet", but not specifically for spanking.
By order of the Queen heavy petting of monkeys and such should be relegated to the privacy of your home. Likewise, upon the decree of the Overlord the Freeport Militia will attack any monkeys seen in public places.

I just got KoS and Desert of Flame...I got my plant, and like a quest item from DOF...but did not see a monkey...what does the icon look like for it??
Icon for the monkey (once you claim it) is a collar and leash. When you claim your monkey you will get a choice one of many different colors. There should be a thread floating around somewhere on the SOE site that shows screen caps of all the colors - I'll look for it.

Wasn't that monkey only for the preordered expansions? I don't have a monkey myself, I think anyway lol.
I didn't pre-order, I got the retail box. You have to /claim it in a chat window.
grrr well I didnt pre-order, but I have the xpac. When I do /claim I see the plant I already got and the veteran rewards for xp etc...but no monkey :(
Either Im missing somthing or for some reason did not get awarded a monkey.

Just to clarify here...
The monkey was supposed to only be for DoF pre-orders but when the expansion was released, some "vocal" players made such a stink on the SOE boards about not getting the monkey with standard boxed copies that SOE flipped a switch in the coding somewhere and granted a monkey to everyone who had purchased the expansion.
You don't get the monkey with KoS... it was part of the DoF roll out package, so if you bought the KoS/basic game bundle you are out of luck until you pick up a copy of DoF.
That is all!

Sorry I was a bit confusing. I only stated the plant and other rewards to show that I did look for the monkey. I also have the DOF xpac...and similiar to the above poster...I want my damn monkey!!!

It's always worth a shot to petition. I don't think they will do anything but you can at least try. Also, you might want to visit the SOE boards and see what everyone else is/was saying about finding their own monkey...

Well Ive been told that it was a timing thing when the xpac was released, and that I may not get a monkey.
I just let them know that they have crushed a dedicated EQ2 fan's dream of having a monkey so that I can invite ppl to my house and do a /emote Azareal spanks his monkey for (insert name). I think they laughed a bit...
