returning player-couple of questionsFollow

Hello all. I am returning to eqII after about a year away. I started at launch and played for a few months, getting my character up to level 15. Not exactly sure why I quit playing, I thought it was a pretty good game in general with a few problems that most games starting up have-mostly things being a little cumbersome and awkward such as the class quest system and especially crafting. I will admit that I did leave to try out wow /em hangs head in shame. I am an eq veteran of five plus years and watched the game go to an expansioned-out-of-control raidfest and got more and more disappointed as time went on until I have finally decided to give it up for good.
A rl friend recently told me he had re-tried eqII, and that they had squared away alot of the gameplay issues and the game was really jam-up now. I came back and I have to say I agree with him. I plan to be here for good now, and am looking for some server suggestions with a good playerbase and economy to be able to contribute to once i make a final decision on race/class lol. Also some guild suggestions would be helpful, although I havent ever really had any time in a guild. Im a casual player and I work straight third shift eastern standard, so I play at odd times lol. Also have a wife and four year old son, so that limits my playtime also.
One specific question I do have is that I cannot seem to find a player house that is cheaper than about 14gp-I know my original prima guide is way out of date heh but I thougt there was some cheap two room apts around 6gp in the game-one step up from the starting inn room is what im basically looking for on Qeynos side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys-

Hi FiveO,

You'll find Najena has a robust population, stable economy, lots of players in almost every zone, and guilds of all levels. It sounds like you would do well with a family style guild that appreciates the rigors of wife-agro. You could check out Foundation, as we are a casual, family guild with parents and kids that play. We are very protective of our online environment and ensure that everyone keeps the screen clean. Our memebrs are spread across the US with many in Central and Eastern zones.

When you get to Najena, look me up. I can help you get started with directions, guidance, mentoring, upgrades, and some coin.

Guild houses will always be expensive, some even requiring status points to be spent. IT may seem expensive at first, but eventually you'll be making nice cash flow and be able to afford the house you want.

...or just use the guild house at 9 Lucie Street (under the name of Squibb).

See you there!

Hello Tuten,
And thanks for the reply. I've read some of your posts on-site and have been very impressed. I think Foundation may be for me once I get set up-hopefully I can get in touch with you in-game. I'll send you a mail when I get get going on Najena. I should be ok starting out-but I'll holler if I need anything. Mail you under Squibb or Kindle?
That's affirmative about wife-aggro lol-though she's usually pretty tolerant about my gaming: it keeps me home and not out boozing and womanizing. Just as long as I handle business when she wants without some lame "but honey, we just got a group together", etc excuse lol.
I've always been a little guild-shy because I'm kind of independant-I like to accomplish stuff for myself mostly without being given everything. Not saying I refuse all help, but I feel bad being on the receiving end of things when alot of times my playtime is limited in the amount of things I'd be able to contribute to the guild. Anyway, I think I'd like to give Foundation a shot if you'll have me. I'll get with you on it when I get a character made.
I wasn't talking specifically about guild housing-or do you have to be in a guild in order to have more than the starter inn room? Was just thinking of a small two room apartment so I could have a personal space with a little more room, even if I'm in a guild. Also, how does the rent status reduction thing work I see on crafted furniture now? Apparently it dosent affect the starter inn room, but does it lower upkeep on other housing or what?
Thanks again bro-

You don't have to be in a guild to upgrade your house. There is housing in many of the suburbs that you can "buy". Actually, you rent it and get to keep it as long as you pay the upkeep. You then place any items you wnat to doll it up.

However, you can only have 1 residence at a time. So if you want to go get a swank 3-bedroom, 3 bathroom, 3 horse garage place, you must collect all your house items and move out. You then haul all your stuff over to the new house, buy it, move in, and you're set!

Several of our guildmates own better housing and also use the guildl house, where we have a mailbox, Bulletin Boards, and a full set of crafting stations.

You are correct about the reduction items. Your initial buy in may be expensive, but those items will help you reduce the cost of weekly upkeep to almost negligable.

For the in-game guild invite, look for Squibb, Maxim, myself, Abuj, or Delamorta. We have several alts that we frequently play, so just chat with those that are on to find out who is on.

See you there! :)

Forgot to mention, guild contribution is somewhat like a pendulum. As it swings to one side, you are just beginning in levels, don't have much power, and make limited contributions, and that's cool.

As the pendulum heads back the other way, you gain levels, help out more, and gain more.

Eventually, the pendulum has swung to the other side, anda you are contributing large amounts, helping others, etc.
