I'm just curious how long it takes to get to max level in this game with comparison to World of Warcraft and the original everquest.

I'm thinking of taking a break from the solo grind that WoW feels like, to try out Everquest2 which seems to boast both soloing and grouping being ways you can level. I understand that grouping is problay faster, but having the option to solo is always good. In generaly, I'm looking for a game that doesn't take too long to level or get anywhere in it, and hosts both group content (what mmorpg were made for) and solo content (for when groups arn't avalialbe).

Thankyou so much for your input!

I am leveling faster that average (or so I am told) I've had a lot of help and people showing me around. Picked game up on April 20th and I am lvl 66 right now.

Of course there is more meat to the end game in EQ2. Claymore quest, deathtoll access, Fallen dynasty and raids so its not like WoW where you got to 60 got equipped in blue gear then started raiding and thats all there was to do.

So you've played both? I'm trying to find a mmorpg that is a decent pace, but is fun enough and has a fun atmosphere that leveling doesn't feel like the end all be all of the game. That feeling gets very bad once you get to higher level and that next level takes awhile to get to, only to realize you still have a lot more :p.

edit: I guess what I'm mainly asking is if this game can be played casualy, and still be ejoyable, even if I may never hit the level cap.

This game is very enjoyable, at all levels.

I've soloed my way to lvl 58, took me 6 months or so of casual play.

I've played casually since the game launched November 2004, and I am still level 68.

I still have only seen probably 70% of the content, leaving much for me to do.

How long it takes to get to 70 depends on alot of things:

1. Do you have a group of people that you can always group with?

2. If not are you a class that is highly desirable in groups?

3. Are you a class that can solo effectily?

4. How much play time do you have?

Don't rush to 70. You'll get bored fast. I've been 70 since early April and I'm in a T7 raiding guild..even raiding the same stuff gets boring at times. Getting exp here compared to EQ is so easy. You get exp for exploring new zones, exp for turning in collection quests, you get .5 points of experience vitality every hour no matter if you are logged in/off. Not sure how it compares to WoW but getting exp here is definitely easier than EQ.

Also do not rush to 70 because there is alot more to do then just kill mobs and gain xp. I dont think WoW has this but EQ2 has a mentor system that allows you to lower your level to a friends level if you are grouped with them allowing them to get xp with you. You can use the same abilities you could use at your current level but they are weakened same with equipment. This game has alot of great stuff in it so there is no need to rush to 70 =)

Dread Lord Shruiken, your avatar is ...clever...but the in-your-face splash makes me want to just skip your post, or put my thumb over the avatar just so I can read it. :(
