Can rogues (swashbucklers, brigands) pickpocket from NPCs?

Absolutely, and you can do it while in Stealth. The requirement is that the target must be humanoid. Meaning, you can't take copper from those rhino's in Commonlands.

Don't expect to get much. I was alternatively killing and pickpocketing some agro mobs in western CL - I would get about 10 copper per hit, then kill it. The refresh timer is not that fast so it's not one of the best money making ventures.

My Brigand is only level 24, so Ican't tell you abou tthe higher tiers. But I'd expect bigger payoffs against bigger mobs. Don't expect to get pp for pick pocketing. I expect it to be more like a few silver.

I wonder what Everling and Varsoon carry in pocket change...?

I realize that PP isn't a big money maker,it's just a fun thing to do.
I've had some good times PP from some merchants, and occasionally being chased by them for a while.I'd usually escape to the zone lines. For example,in the original,I'd pp from Isbel near the WF camp in Butcherblock Mts and running to the G Faydark to escape.

I was in an XP group last night and it wasn't until the brigand logged out and was replaced that I heard the first coin drop of the session. I realized that the brig had been stealing all the coin we came across... no splits, no nothing!

I mentioned it to the group leader who replied, "yeah, he does that... he's a ratonga!"

I had to laugh! Moral of the story is yes, you can pick pocket and yes, you can do quite well...

LOL it's kind of a coincidence,my rogue is going to be a ratonga. I usually roll a gnome for my rogues, but he'll sit out this game and the ratonga will step into his shoes.
I'm also planning on trying my hand at starting a guild with my ratonga,it will consist of mainly ratongas with a few trolls, ogres and evil gnomes. Rogues only.

I was doing the same thing that brigand was doing. In EQ1 I was in a group near the Skyfire ramp in the Overthere. I would pickpocket from the mob,but I'd always give the plat piece to a random group member.
