I am playing EQII now. I spent a month on the progression serevers and had a good time but the nostalgia only managed to carry me so far. Last night, in a trance that could only have been engineered by the devious genious of SOE, I patched EQII and decided I would pay for a month and give it a shot after trying it originally shortly after release. Well to my pleasant surprise, when I was done patching I hit play and was sent to the character select screen. I then rolled a toon on Blackburrow, which took me forever due to the incredible customization options, and was surprised again when I was able to log right on. Neat billing system that allows me to log on after maybe a year and a half away without entering a payment.

At the time I first played, I found it rather unappealing due to the linear nature of advancing my toon to it's specialized path and the graphics were too tasking on my system. I gave up after a month.

I don't even know what all has been done, but it's an intriguing game now, even at the lowest levels, and so I'm feeling like it will be mt new thing. There must have been some big graphic thing done, because my comp runs the game beautifully now, and I haven't changed a thing.

So what I'm getting at is this: once I finally settle on a toon is there some channel that Alla regulars are joining on BB? 'Cause I want in.

There's a thread around here, not too old, that lists out who here is on what server, and the associated guilds. I'm still looking for it. Blasted non-working search function...

Was there also a recent post that listed servers with the associated guilds and the Alla members? Must...remember...

Here's a testament to the community in this game.

I roll a barbie troubador tonight, and I'm plugging along, decide I like it, and exit the isle. I'm running around doing some minor quests in a newbish forest zone off Qeynos, and I decide to check out the modus communici you PM'ed me, DSD. I see that as of my joining, we've got three in channel.

Now I clearly need to do some UI tweaking, because I don't see any text when I type out /1 Testing, testing. 1...2...3, but within seconds I get a tell saying "Read you loud and clear".

I mention that I cannot see any text from the channel, and the kindly stranger tries to walk me through it, to no avail. No matter, he asks if I need help and says he can bring an alt to play with me. I say sure and that by the way, this is Barkingturtle.

So he comes along with a fifteen berserker, while I'm currently level seven, and he mentors down and takes me to Antonica. After awhile he logs on a fifty-something wizard and mentors down, and then proceeds to vaporize mobs as he helps me quest to level 10. He then asks if I'm looking for a guild and I say sooner or later, yes, but I inquire as to who he is here.

He's never even heard of Alla's, it would seem. Now tell me a newbish stranger would be treated so well in any other game? The guy didn't even bat an eye when out of nowhere I tell him I'm Barkingturtle!

Long story short, I'm very pleased to have come over to the darkside, and look forward to seeing some of you in-game, even though the strangers are nice, and come bearing candy.
