Troubador/Dirge charmFollow

Ok, don't know how many troubs or dirges there are on the boards but here is my gripe. Since the big update my charm is worthless. I used to be able to charm and beastie and count on him staying charmed for long enough to be benifical. For an example in Crypt of Betrayal I could charm an agonized essence or a diseased or restless corpse and they would stay charmed long enough for him to assist me in wiping out his entire family group.

Have any other charming classes had this massive reduction in their charm spells?

There were a lot of changes made to the game in the interest of making enchanters a viable class, this was one of them. What else? You may have noticed we now have proximity aggro and social mobs, so lulling for pulls has moved over from EQ1 as well.

I used to have a spell that would aggro a MoB but after it ran over it would just stand there doing nothing for 20 seconds unless it was hit. It was changed to turn off only the MoB's auto-attack (they can still nuke and use CA's) and decreased to unbreakable 10 seconds. I used to be able to lock down a MoB using that spell and my stun, but no more - they want that to be chanter territory.

The chanters will say they were nerfed along with everyone else in LU24, but, understandably, they just don't want to be blamed for nerfs to other classes. I don't blame SOE too much, enchanters needed something to give them value in a group.

I havent played with my CC ability in a while, but as a dirge I hated what we received for our main CC ability. We had a fear instead of a charm, just what your group wants, for you to make one mob run off to not possibly return. That was another problem with dirge fear, When I tried to use it, a couple of times that one mob would not return, and I got stuck in combat till I zoned. Sorry to hear about your change to charm, but I cant see how they could hurt my dirges fear.

Troubs got screwed, no doubt ... and a lot of people have stopped playing the class since then. Granted, I'll still take a Troubador in my group or raid over most other classes any day (even a healer!) - but people don't like the idea of them being primarily a buff bot now.

Anyway ... the scenario you gave gives you the main reason the Troub charm was reduced: It made them overpowered (in some eyes) in their ability to solo heroic groups.
