Repair KitFollow

I have seen repair kits listed for sale outside the tradeskill centers. They are sold on the same NPC that sells the regular tradeskill volumes. They sell for 6 gold. I had thought maybe it was an on the go armor repair kit. That would be an awesome idea. If that's what it is I can't figure out how to use it. Anyone know what they are for?

I also have noticed that I can't buy arrows from NPC that sold them before. Is this something new since the bug tradeskill update? I can find the cheapest ones sold in the small burbs but not the others. I used to be able to buy them on the Thundering Steppes dock and the I thought the Enchanted dock.

I learned another wonderful thing from my son last night. I am so glad he decided to pick up EQ II. He just knows stuff that to him comes naturally. Being from the younger generation he is just more knowledable about game mechanics. I could probablly list all the games I have played on one hand. Let's see, Rages of Mages, Vamire, all of the Sims, WarCraft, EQ Live, and EQ II. Like I said, he picks up on things naturally where as this old bird (hit the half century mark today) is a slow learner.

I havent bought one yet, but Im under the impression that repair kits are just that: they repair your armor if you die. Its not something you really need though unless you plan on dying quite often in one night ( think raiding). Otherwise the stats on your armor do not decrease even when you do kick the bucket. Its only after you have died ten times without repairing at a mender that you lose everything.

I think the repair kits sold on the NPC are part of the carpenter's recipe to craft them. The rosewood repair kit sells for around 75 gold (on my server) on the broker and repairs your armor to up to 40%. Our carpenter in guild sells them on the raid spot for 50 gold each and he doesnt make money out of them. Like DSD said, it's not really worth paying for unless you are raiding and tend to die a lot. I don't even carry one around, I don't die all that much in raids anymore, and in case things go that bad, I carry backup armor instead, it pretty much always comes cheaper to repair it all than paying for a repair kit (highest I ever paid was 61 gold of repairs).

You are correct - the one you see on the merchant is simply part of the recipe to make an actual usable one. They are expensive, and only repair your armor to 40%. Normally, if we're trying a new raid encounter and dying lots, we'll normally just switch to backup gear ... unless you're the main tank or something.
