a wand i gotFollow

ok i been playing for 2 days now in EQ2 what a cool game. I had picked up a pristine disease imbued wand ..i think i spelt it right.. well it said on the bottom of the wand that i can do dmg other then stricking with it, but it needs to be activated. I dont understand what i have to do this. I looked on this ite but could not find anything out can someone help me. thanks
