GameSpy's State of the Game for EQIIFollow

Hmmmmm. What? You have 2 characters and you've figured out WOW. Well congratulations!!!

First off, "killing things specifically for quests" is bullsh!t. Straight up... I know what you mean, but if you wanna get technical you can litterally just do writs over and over and say the same EXACT thing for EQ2.

High end WOW is ALL about raiding the same exact Zone over and over until your group/guild is good enough to advance to the next tier of raid zone(no s.) The reason you do that is so you can PVP better...

The quests in WOW are very very similar to EQ1 quests, except you get a quest book!! Oh boy!! Doing a pure quest count you will find EQ2 exceeding marginally over WOW in quest count.

WOW can be tons of fun, don't get me wrong. But HONESTLY, having a 56 mage (which I'm not even proud of having, I'm just trying to unvalidate your comment) I could name what everyone around me was wearing (because there was litterally 1 or 2 choices that were any good for each level range.) It was very disheartening. In EQ2, it is true that there is a lot of crafted gear floating around, but on the whole (and especially with the non-tank classes) you can see a HUGE array of different - very different - gearsets and statsets.

Now WOW has been trying to up their gearcount, but so has everquest! For every set of unique looking gear that WOW has, EQ2 has it's own. The next expac promises to up that count even more.

I have MAD respect for Blizzard (have since Diablo1/WC2 days - most likely a fan before you were) but WOW is like a long, drawn out game of DoTA on Warcraft 3... it's a PVP Fest. It can be very exciting and rewarding... but let's not kid ourselves on which game has more PVE/Quest content.

I honestly miss the progression of the classes, and the fact that you had to work harder and make it to lvl 20 before you chould choose your master class. I miss the fact that it made you appreciate your class more, and sort of gave you that feeling of accomplishment.

After having returned after over a year I must say I am still enjoying the game just as much, and really entirely unsure of why it is I decided to quit in the first place. At the momennt (for me) EQ2 is top of the list as far as MMO's are concerned.

I kind of miss that, too. Sure, sometimes the class quests could be a bit of a pain, but it *was* kind of neat to "change" into something different at 10 and then again at 20.

I came back to EQ2 last week and I'm really loving it. I think I'm going to cancel my WoW account. (I was bored, anyway. Just trying to hold out to see what the expansion was like)

I never played EQ1 (yea I know crazy for an MMO gamer). And WoW had its moments, but tbh I only played WoW as long as I did because I loved to do alchemy and fish. I actually did not enjoy the actual game.

So far I love EQ2. The tradeskills since the last update are awesome, and alot of fun to do. I dont mind harvesting, and even though I dont need anything from the fish nodes I still fish because for some reason I really love fishing in MMOs.

I try to get into groups for the most part, especially if I need to complete certain quest lines you just cant do solo. (well I cant heh) But I always go find a spot to do some solo stuff while spamming lfg, and this has been both productive and fun.

The PvP (the only reason I play ANY game, hence why I never played EQ1) is fairly solid for an MMO of this kind. Nothing can compare to when shadowbane was released, but im bored of that game and it has gotten pretty bad in PvP itself. Making this game one of the better ones on the market oddly enough.

Sure evac is annoying but hey it doesnt kill me. And yea some classes in cloth dont fare well solo, but that can be fixed, and hopefully will. The GvG PvP is pretty good really, even the bad PvP classes can have a role if played right in GvG combat.

I havent reached any where near end game yet so I dont know how much will change from now till then. But there seems to be alot of content in the xpacs and adventure pacs to keep me going for a long time.

I did not play this at release so I cant compare, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how good this game is.
