So far I've gotten a damaged fetish and a lightly damged ancient medalion. Any idea what these are for?

Also is there a guide or any more put together info on the raindbow lights and how they work?

The rainbow lights are for using a scrying stone. Those stones are purchasable from various merchants.

Stand inside the rainbow, right click > Use the scrying stone.
You'll hear some sounds and see messages appear across the screen.
In a few seconds you'll have a result, either a item to choose, or you'll be attacked by something that pops from the ground.

Try this for more details on the rainbows.

Forgot to answer your first question.

Those items are the rewards for using a rainbow effect with the scrying stones. It is vendor junk for you to sell for a little pocket change.

My son likes to jump into ever rainbow he sees. In the last week he has distirbed something very nasty. The mob was extremely red. On the first occasion we all died. On the second occasion he dies, I evaced and our thrid member ran off and survived. We cringe whenever he sees a rainbow now.

So far we have only seen one item that would be of any value, a bracelet. The scrying stones can be used in more rainbows. The other coins are part of a quest, at least one quest with Tinker, or Tilken, something like that, in the Steppes.

And then the research tomes. They are oppurtunities to get xp by killing a x number of mobs in x amout of time. Just a fast fun thrill. No biggie.

The guy that sells the scrying stones will buy back the discovery itesm for 10 silver. I think other NPCs give you a better rate. The coins can also be sold for much more on the broker.
