new consignment containersFollow

I purchased a couple of the new consignment containers last weekend and I am already seeing a HUGE increase in sales. I can only assume that this is due to players being able to come to my room and purchase in person once again since I sell a lot of rare leather armor and wooden weapons and before this last weekend sales were pretty much flatlined!

As far as the containers only being available from rare woods, I am totally in favor of this restriction! There is a lot of complaining about it on the SOE boards, much of it from posters claiming that this excludes players without a lot of money from having these new items. But my feeling is that if they were available in common wood versions the market would be flooded with them, the price point on them would be as low as it is on everything else and furthermore, the market would be further cluttered with even more trash drops that nobody wants to buy!

As it stands, Carpenters finally get to make some money and the market is a bit less clogged with crap!

What say you?

Old Blue, how do you use those containers? I hadn't realized what they were when I made them. I just thought I had gotten lucky and they had made some new furniture. Do you put them in the slot you would put your box to sell items? I made 4 containers I think. The one for food, armor, weapons, and potions.

Oak is not cheap to use and I was rather upset with my self when I realized they weren't what I thought they were. I don't think if I had known I would have used my oak that way.

You put the new container in the same slots you used for regular boxes inside the broker interface. Once you have it filled with stuff (or while it's still empty if you like), just right click on the icon in the broker window and choose place. You can then place the item anywhere in your room - just like "normal" furnature. The difference is that they can be accessed by buyers who come to your room to purchase your stuff.

As far as "wasting" oak on them - don't worry, they are selling on Najena for top dollar and I have yet to see any drop in prices. Oak tends to go for between 50 and 90 gold per item depending on demand for that item. The generic "salesman's chest", (which will hold anything), seems to be worth the most with the specialized containers going for a bit less.

If I were you, I would sell those off and make one of the "furnature shelf" ones for yourself. You might also want a generic one since they will hold everything else...

bumping this because I finally went out and grabbed a few. I was totally ignorant on these, and wasted money. I somehow had it in my mind that a weapons rack would actually be something like furniture that people could mouse over and check out, same as jewelry box, etc. I had it in my head to make a little spot to sell my wares, purchased one of each, and set to work.

Only to discover they use your slots in your store and I can only use three and I never have enough to make it worthwhile to keep any of them sans the spell box.

ahh well lesson learned

While they do take up spots in your broker, you CAN place them in your house by right-clicking them in your house. I don't really get where your problem is, unless you were thinking they wouldn't use broker slots.

I did right click them but there was no option for me to place them. Dunno.

but did you right click them while they were in the broker interface slots?

They don't work exactly like regular furnature in that they have to be in the broker interface before they can be placed.

Mine are sitting on the floor near the door to my inn room as I type this so I know they work! In addition, for the last week or so, I have made it a point to only buy from sellers that have these containers available. Well, on big icket5 items anyway!

Indeed, I can say the same thing. When you're in your house go into your broker interface and right-click them. It'll bring up a menu to place it in your house.

Ill check it out.

Now my other question: how do you decide which containers to use? Since I only have 3 slots for my broker, and I have things to sell other than weapons/jewelry/armor/spells I have to keep at least one if not more of those slots open for a regualr carryihng case. Then I can only choose one, two max of the new containers to use. I dont usually have 48 weapons or pieces of armor to sell so it just seems like a waste to me

I only have 3 slots too so let me tell what i'm planning on doing when I get the money.

Weapon Rack (mainly because i'm a Weaponsmith and i'm hoping that adding this will see an improvement in sales... but I truthfully don't hold much hope as i've had one for a bit now and have only seen a very small increase.... went from selling like 1 weapon a week to 2 or 3, both imbue and non)

Spell Case (I always seem to get so many dropped spells, and some can go for a pretty penny... if the TS books could be held in here also that would be grate)

Salesmen Crate (For basically everything else that isn't a spell/weapon)

IF I was to get rid of the weapon rack, I may go for one of those bag stands and get my carpenter to start cracking out various boxes and stands when I can find the books for em (advanced carpetners really shot up in demand/price because of this, I think i've been able to find 2 books that have them... rack and crate... still looking for the others) and the raw cheap(ish or harvested myself Smiley: lol) or just use another Crate for everything.

I still sell out of my inn room so I have only two slots but here's what I did.

I bought the largest salesman's crate I could afford and this gets used for everything except the goods made by my tailor. The goods made by my tailor (leather & cloth armor and the new casual clothes), go in one of the armor cabinets.

By picking a general container as the larger of the two, I haven't yet been strapped for selling space.

You might have to be more selective about what you choose to put up for sale whan it comes to drops but I don't see this as a bad thing.

As an aside, yesterday I was looking for a new earring for a lvl 25 alt and had to move through 3 pages of junk goods on the broker. I don't mean 3 pages of earrings with low stats... I mean 3 pages of earrings with NO stats! Trash drops were not meant to be resold on the broker no matter how cheap they are! I mean, how stupid do you have to be to buy jewelery items with no effects what so ever? It's not like you can see them!!!

I have 3 slots, I got a 80 slot ebony weapon rack (because I'm a weaponsmith and I have a lvl 40 woodworker alt), and 2 salesman crates, one ebony 60 slot and one cedar 48 slot (?) because I had the cedar lying around. I put my weapons and ammo in the weapon rack (duh) and split up the other two with armor, jewelery and other gear in one and spells, potions, totems and other magical items in the other.

My sales have seen a decided increase. I seem to be a little ahead of the curve in the realization that the days of multi-plat pricing on rare weapons and armor are over. I've also discovered a lucrative little niche market on my server and I'm doing very well with it, thank you :)
