Sorry, speed buffs have been standardized almost across all classes. You can get the buff several ways:
- Self buff (Spirit of the Wolf, or Pathfinding)
- Totem - player crafted gives a SoW buff for 30 minutes (5 charges)
- Mount - Horses of varying prices with buffs from 10-48%
- Quest item - Flying Carpet gives 40% increase

As far as "native" speed buffs, preditors have a buff called pathfinding and bards still have Selos. And the druids still have SoW. Of the three, bards are the fastest. So that hasn't changed.

The biggest difference between bards in EQ and in EQ2 is that they no longer weave their songs. In EQ2, bard songs last for 12 hours and you can play as many of them as you like at once (up to 5 concentration).

The next biggest change is that bards no longer carry instruments to improve their song quality. So, your drum along with all the other drums, stringed, brass and wind instruments are... gone!

What!? I remember when playing a bard was a skill! You had to like, work at it.. it kept you busy in a good way. Weaving songs and knowing the right ones.. now its been dumbed down for people who.. argh! I dont even want to get into it. I feel like they have been robbed of their unique qualitys.

it's a different game and the class is played differently. Get over it. It wasn't all that hard to play a bard in EQ anyway. I playd one into the upper 40's and it wasn't that tough. Just required decent motor skills...

Bards have been dumbed down abit, still fun and the most flashy of all the professions.

Personally, I think the Bard class in Eq2 is significantly more challenging to play well than in EQ1.

Seriously, who couldn't turn in circles while twisting? It wasn't nearly as hard as EQ1 bards made it out to be, especially if you had good macros. Yes, grouping was a bit more challenging, only because you had to utilize more than a handful of hotkeys.

In Eq2 you no longer have to twist, but you still can change out songs mid-fight for better beneifts. Also, the combat arts you get with the positionals, stealth and other attack moves make soloing or grouping immensely more enjoyable, and quite frankly, much harder to do than running around like Ricky Bobby in Eq1.

EQ2 Bards FTW. EQ1 bards for the Snorefest.

About the speed thing, Bards are really fast still, if you get to like level 30 somthing and you get selo's accelerando + Jboots = 42% speed increase. Thats better than quite a few horses and the carpet.

59 Fae Troub.

Jboots, Selo's, Wisdom AA line speed buff and Silvani form = 59% FTW.

Rangers have 2 AA lines that increase their grp speed buff and solo speed, with both maxed, i believe this results in grp speed of 48% and ranger speed of 51%

My ranger is level 55 and has regular run speed of 61%. Everyone in my group can go 46%. I have no j-boots (yet).

Ha,slow, all of ya...

As a Fae Ranger class... its the fastest on the game, bar none

Fae's get 5 percent in and out of combat run increase...

With Fae you also can quest to get a form, SYlvania form, which adds an additional 5 Percent run, at the cost of not being able to fight in the form, but great for long distances and getting away from PVP.

Now, add onto that a master Buff that rangers get, adds another 8.## percent...

Added onto that the AGI line of the Ranger adds an aditional Run speed of 10 percent....

Ok, last to final step, 8 AA points in ranger tree will get u a Pathfinding of 46 percent.....

Man thats alot so far... Wait, theres more

At lvl 42, of course.. Journeyman Boots become avilable...

So Sandman... What does that total, I cant do math!!!

Ill Tell you... with just a small amount of AA, and Fae as your toon, with sylvania form..

All the time run speed of 69 percent, 74 Percent with Sylvania Form on

At lvl 42: With Journeyman Boots

All the time run speed of 79 Percent, 84 with Sylvania form on

So getting from place to place or just running down a PVP battle... You get there at 84 Percent with Fae Ranger at lvl 42, given all the above has been done

For those of you who didn't read the above text and skipped to the end:

84 Percent Run is easily atainable all the time with Fae Ranger
