Just out of curiosity. I see some interesting names when I play EQ2. How did you come up with your name?

I am of spanish heritage so I picked a word in spanish "Cielo" = sky

I have other charcs. in the game that I basically did the same thing with they relate to me charc.

So where'd you get your name?

The name Abuj was generated by the game itself. It sounded nice and I stuck with it. As last name I chose Harlan, a tribute of sorts to my favourite Asimov book.

I normally always try and use book names, not fantasy ones though, mostly science fiction.

Mine came from a slight modification of the Drow language (since in a sense DE=Drow) and actually has a meaning. It's also loosely based off the true name for Dark Elfs, Teir'Dal.

Edit: Well not so much modifaction (as both the begining and end of the name are in the Drow language) but rather a little creative liscense since technically the Drow do not exist Smiley: lol

My main name in any game I play is Meiune, also known as Mei. Ive used that name since I began playing EQ1 7 years(?) ago. It just popped in my head and I loved it... still do.

The other name I tend to use is unoriginal but I like it nonethelss. Its any variety of Faile, from the WOT series. Reason why? If you knew the character Faile, she and I are pretty much peas in a pod. I can relate to her in almost every sense.

My female Dwarf character(s) are always named Tonopah or Tonopa. Tonopah, Nevada was the location of the second largest silver deposit ever found, second only to the famous Comstock load. The surface deposit was discovered by a miner who was looking for a mule that had run off from his camp.

The Tonopah mine is also known as "Queen of the Silver Camps".

I recycle the same name from game to game. It's an obscure norse god, and when that's not available I mix and match sylables until I find something that sounds appropriate for the character. Often looking for german words with strong gutteral sounds and cool translations.

I went to visit family in Moscow in summer of 1989. It was a crazy time. My characters are named after, and in some cases, in memory of the friends I made that year.

Mine was originaly an generated name from EQ1, Dakimap. It eventually got shortened to Daki or Dak. Used it for everything from MMO's to regular RPGS.

my came from the days that I played paper RPG's . I had a couple of characters die on me in a big campaign and had to roll a new one ho would be several levels below the rest of the group. So he became excess baggage. THe name stuck (Baggage).

4 ago I was playing Dark Ages of Camelot and was rolling a new Necromancer toon. I couldn't think of a name for the life of me so I was flipping through books for an idea. One of the books was by the Dalai Lama. Bodhisattva was my choice. Since then I usually use some variation when naming a char. Bhod, Bodhi, Bodhisattva etc.

Bodhisattva is a buddhist term for someone who promises to help all living beings reach enlightenment. My EQ2 characters last name Tagathata is once again buddhist inspired. It's the term Buddha used to refer to himself and is Sanskrit for 'The one thus-come'

Haemish is a variation of Hamish (already taken on my server, anyhoo). I actually like my spelling of it better. Hamish is the Gaelic form of James and Jacob. My father's name is James, so I thought it would be a nice homage. I'm pretty sure Dad would be amused by having a chubby Halfling Monk named after him.

Also, I enjoyed "Hamish Macbeth" BBC tv series set in Scotland. Great cast of quirky characters. Some day I'll have to track down the original novels that the show is based upon.

Wallop - A name I had for my Dwarven characters in EQ and WoW. It was also the name of my first webcomic, Wallop, I did a few years ago.

For this current incarnation, it seems to work well for a Gnome Bruiser.

Raeebe Moonshine (she likes to moon) is a derivation on a generated name in EQ Live.

Temperra T'Antrum just sounded like a good name for a DE

Woodiva Splinterqueen was created to be a carpenter (I now play her more than any other)

Zoobecca Modburleigh - Modburleigh is an ancient rendering of my rl last name. Zoobecca, well, that's me and that name became my 1st e-mail name way back when I thought AOL was cool. I used to homeschool my sons and we had a small zoo. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fish tanks, 1 turtle 2 parakeets, loads of gerbils, 1 guniea pig, 1 igunna, 1 sicillian worm, and other stray babies that wound up being raised by us (bunnies, starlings, etc.)

Ke Daiv was a type of humanoid known as a BloodCarver in the 5th Star Wars book "Rogue Planet" A super race of creatures that produced the most powerful and awesome ships in the galaxy and a tremendous group of assasins. Ke Daiv had Anakin killed basically, but Skywalker was saved by Obi-Wan.

Bloodlich was the name of my necro in EQ.

Generally lich means a evil spellcaster which fit the defination of a necro to me.

Red is my favorite color, specifically blood red. I figure that color really suits a necro. So I put both of them together..sounded good..and used the name ever since.
