In need of Wisdom On Monks...Follow
I've Decided to give WoW a rest, and jump on the Eq2 Band wagon.. Im really interested in becoming a Froglok monk. I plan on playing on a PVP server, So i want TO Deal damage, before I die. I dont want to be the Jack of all Trades... just want to stay alive, and dish out respectable damage. Hitting in the 1,000 is big for me.. Can monks hit PC for 1,000?
You would only do damage like that when you are level 50+, if at all.
Monks, although having good combat skills, are still in the fighter class and are on the low end of the overall DPS totem pole.
They do get several abilities to stun, knock down, and interupt the opponent.

1 Hit for over 1k dmg... Look to Wizzy or Assassin(possibly good ranger) and nowhere else.
Monk, however, is much more favorable than these classes for PVP in many respects. Just because nowhere on your screen does a 4 digit number appear doesn't mean you arn't doing the damage.
Monks are at their best with duel weild, extremely fast, decent proccing weapons with haste on and spamming every trick they got. Once a monks up in your grill, your pretty much stuck there for a good 15-20 seconds, much of that time unable to melee and almost all of that time unable to cast anything.
Furthermore, while Monks/Bruisers are by far the scrawniest of the Fighter archtype, they're still high on the food chain, higher than any scout and MUCH higher than that Wizzy.
So instead of that 1000 damage in one hit... think...

Monks can hit for huge damage vs solo mobs using Devastating Fists, which will one-shot any solo mob you can land it on. My high hit is around 11,000 right now.
He's talking about for PVP.
