Ok, I don't gripe much but with the increase in players I gotta gripe. Please don't ride your mounts in the bank. Sometimes the lag is so bad I have to crank down my graphics just to get in through the door. Do you really need to make a quick get away in the bank? I don't think so! Unless of course, you are a fugitive from the law, there is no reason other than laziness. Please have some curtesy and dismount before going into the bank. I won't even take my summoned pets into the town or trade skill instances. There is no need and it just increase lag for everyone.

What is the zone population that makes a zone roll over? Maybe that's something Sony will need to think about. I am really suprised at the number of people who stay in the small burbs and don't move to the bigger cities. I guess that could be because many people don't even have their own inns.

Ok, I am done. Now the bashing may commence...

I have to admit im am guilty of this as well. I never shut off my mount. Not sure if carpets are as bad. I never realized this cause other people problems. I will dismount in town. They should really just switch the zones back to not being able to be mounted in them.

To me, even though it's slightly irritating when trying to target the Banker (or Broker), I chalk it up to one of the facets of gameplay.

For example, when I'm grinding several rounds of writs, I plan on making it all happen as fast and painlessly as possible. My speedy 40% carpet, although not as bulky as the horse, helps me do that. My Call of Qeynos point is in Starcrest Commune near a merchant. I can immediately sell the vendor loot and fill my pockets with copper.

A few quick steps into the nearest building brings up the Banker, where I consolidate all the change, maybe refresh a drink from the guild bank.

I then zip into 4 other zones, up stairs, through portals to get 4 writs to head out.

Then it's QH > Antonica > TT to quickly do the writs. Once they're done, I repeat the cycle as real-life agro permits.

During the entire time, my focus is to speed from one NPC to the next. If I were to dismount at each one (and some would frankly not require it), it would be a needless few-extra-clicks.

Now, if someone just hangs out or goes AFK at the bank, they should have the courtesy to dismount. Social gatherings, meetings, or taking out a named mob should be "mount-less".

When I group or mentor, if the majority of the members don't have mounts, I also "de-carpet" to keep my speed at pace with them.

I admit I ride my mount into the bank. Reason being its more of a time factor. Usually if Im riding to the bank it's a quick stop before Im off again. Having to click off my mount, do the bank, shift my hotbar and reclick waiting for the few seconds to remount... yeah Im lazy. Sorry :(

I have to agree with Zoo in that it can get very annoying and laggy when the bank is jam packed with horses and pets n such.

I do understand the other side of the coin, however. If I had a horse (which I don't) etc...I honestly probably wouldn't take the time to dismount either.

I just have to chalk up my discontentment with the lag to:

1. Jealously because I have a crappy PC that lags in the first place, let alone in a full bank or other area.

2. I don't have a horse or spiffy flying carpet like Tut :(

All that I ask is if you have the time, please dismount and feel some pitty on us poor behind the times, badly out-dated computer people. If you don't have the time, then don't.

As for the burbs, what can I say...I'm a suburbanite through and through. I never have moved to the big city yet and don't have any plans to in the near future. Willow Wood is just home to me. I can't imagine living anywhere else at this point. I'm familiar with it and I like the scenary and layout.

I do have a horse and always un-summon when I get back to my home village.

Horses and carpets... and pets for that matter, in the bank are a real pain in the lower 40! And with the increase in server population, things have just gotten that much worse.

Seems to me that there was never any reason to change the coding to allow mounts in the villages. We did just fine back in the day when we had to run all the way to the bell!

And if there is some pressing need to allow mounts in town, they should add the code to keep them outdoors.

Bringing them indoors is rude and it's probably unsanitary!!!

I think the change had to do with allowing the enemy into our burbs to kill and plunder our city guards. The change came about the same time the PvP changes went live.

I will confess that I don't have a horse or rug. I have given it thought but it just hasn't seemed all that important to me.

As for the small one-room Inn...I am a stuff hog. I am also a quest hog. I have more books than you could shake a stiff snake at. I used to spend hours and hours in all of the Sims games designing, building, and decorating my houses. When I bagan to play EQ II I guess that desire just transferred over. I two-box and so I generally play duos. My higher level pair had to move to the 3-room apartment because they ran out of room. This last weekend my mid 30 duo had to move to the 2-room inn for the same reason. But the evil continues because now my carpenter is going to have to get busy and make lots of pretties to fill those rooms. It's and endless evil cycle that I am doomed to replay over and over.

I resent that! I took a lot of time training my Mistrunner not to use the bank and other indoor areas as his personal bathroom!

He now discreetly goes behind the buildings. Good fodder for gardens, but I wouldnt step there if I were you

When I have to bank real quick and I'm in Nettleville Hovel I get into that back corner with my horse and I still can do my thing without getting my horse in the way. Now though, there is that one time I was in that corner banking and got a phone call. When I came back, someone had sent me tells. 'You stupid frog (im french speaking, and had something in french written in my bio) get off your f**king horse !' 'You're not impressing anyone with your stupid horse get off of it right now you frog' 'Oh, not really bright are you, you can't even answer me because you're just a stupid f**king frog'.

Now with that much curtesy, I swear to god i will NEVER get off my horse to do my thing unless I'm told nicely. Reporting the racist prick got me the generic SOE response basically meaning 'Mind your own business, we will mind ours'. Very professional.

About 2 weeks ago I saw that racist purist banking on his horse, being in everyone's way. I hate stupid people :(.

This bugs me no end as well. I always /say something polite about canceling mounts and carpets if it's crowded when I'm at the bank in Starcrest but no one has ever responded.

I can't see it saving much time at all running between bells and buildings. Most of my time is spent zoning, and from what I can tell I zone pretty fast. When I need to run across a bigger zone like SQ or NQ I just sprint. (hello...?) I think it's faster than a horse and it doesn't run out before I get to where I need to go.

Dismissing and calling back for your trip to town isn't going to add much time to the visit, overall. Please be considerate and dismount and/or unsummon. :) TYVM

Technically there are actually faster mounts. I believe the max speed on a mount is 47% (could be off by +/- 1 or 2%) which is just slightly faster then sprint, which is 40%

The next slowest mount is (again +/- 1 or 2% since i'm going off memory) is 36% which is just slight SLOWER then sprint.

Personally, so long as they just are there for a quick in/out stop (like I am 90% of the time) then I don't really mind. If they are going afk in there or goning to be in there for awhile (see browsing all 4 guild banks in a higher level guild or doing a big re-arrange on the inventory/guild bank if they are a guild leader) then it would be nice if they dismounted. It is more of a porblem in a smaller bank area then one of the larger though.

I don't have a horse myself, nor any type of mount so far anyway (always broke so I never can buy it, and haven't done the carpet quest as yet but working on it), but experiences are that this is indeed very annoying.

It reminds me of all the people who felt they just had to group in front of the bank in plane of knowledge in EQ I. Dreadful lag and no purpose whatsoever.

Mind you, I'm only annoyed when I've played for a bit, when my computer starts to lag out of its own.

I was going to say "I've never had a problem with it" then this afternoon I logged on and went to broker and the game almost froze which never happens to me. When the graphics started popping up on the screen the broker was surrouned by 20 horses.

I feel your pain!
