PvP server ruleset?Follow

#1 Jun 18 2006 at 8:16 AM Rating: Decent
For some time I have thinked about rejoining EQ2 after i left about a year ago, and it seems alot have changed. The thing i find most interesting at the moment are the new pvp servers, however, I have found myself completely unable to find any information about how these new servers work

I've made this post in the hopes that someone could enlighten me on the rulesets of these new pvp servers?

How is pvp played out? (Free-for-all, Faction vs. faction etc)?

If the game is faction vs. faction is it possible to communicate and group with the other factions?

What happens when another player dies? Is it possible to loot the players belongings and does the player loose xp?

Are there any incentives to pvp?

Is it possible to kill lower level players and how does that work out?

Faction vs. faction. It's Freeport vs. Qeynos, and now the new Exiles can kill (and be killed) by anyone.

No crossfaction communication or broker use (no fences), but the Exiles can sell and buy from both factions - which means that the Necromancer Master 1's you pick up won't be vendored anymore, at least.

There is no XP loss in this game. What does happen is that whenever you die for any reason you gain .5% XP debt (Basicially, you either have to pay off the debt with XP or if you wait it goes away on it's own). Players will also drop 50-60% of their current money and will randomly drop a Treasured item (usually status items or adepts). You can't drop the equipment you're currently wearing, or anything you have attuned, or anything above a certain item quality (if you've played WoW, you can't drop Blues or above).

Yeah. Every time you kill a player, you gain a fairly sizeable chunk of experience, a nice bit of status and you get Fame towards your PvP titles (Hunter, Slayer, Champion, etc.) There is a cooldown period after killing someone (half hour or so?) where you won't get any XP, status, coin or possible random items for killing them, so there's also less incentive to camp someone.

There's also no corpse-camping since you don't have to recover your corpse for any reason anymore - you can just spawn anywhere with no penalty for not running back to your body.
