Wow! I think all those people who have been saying they were coming from WoW and FFXI (whatever?) did it this weekend. I was shocked at the number of people running around in the Freeport newb zones. At one point in the Graveyard I had a hard time finding mobs to kill and decided to come back later.

To all of you who are just now joining us in EQ II or rejoining us, welcome.

I saw some of this on the Qeynos side too. At one point in the weekend, a friend of mine and I were pushing a duo of alts along and ran into a huge crowd of people in The Caves. The worst part was that most of them lacked any semblence of good manners.

I remember at one point a solo caster type ran up to my friend and I and demanded that we group with him. I said "thanks but no thank you - we're trying to work on our duo tactics" to which he replied "fine - fu*k you". Nice people skills, eh?

A little while later, we found a trio of players who kept killing the same named quest mob over and over. My friend asked them to stop long enough for us to kill him (once) so we could get our updates and move on. One of them paused long enough to reply "no - I need him too".

No doubt things will smooth out over time but for the moment I would have to say, it appears to be WoW's gain and our loss!!!

I've noticed this too.

I think the rave review of KoS and the development of EQ2 in general since launch may have something to do with the influx.

OBD, that trio may have been farmers. I ran into a group of them in Antonica this weekend. 4 toons with obviously random names, a berzerker, 2 wizards and a warden. All level 10. The 3 casters were autofollowing on the berzerker. They tried to kill a named crab on the southern beach, and were obviously overmatched at level 10. The berzerker got killed fast, the other three just stood there and died.

I killed their crab myself (my monk alt, yes it was still green to me) and got a nice chest with a good weapon and an Adept I. They were back on the beach as soon as I killed it. They didn't say anything.

Did SOE ban a lot of farmers recently? Are the all out leveling new toons now?

I came back this weekend and found out I had some Veteran Rewards for like a year :D

Made a Wood Elf Beserker on Permafrost, I have to say the class is pretty fun :)
I got 4x Rough Coral in a day and have around 45 Gold at level 15. I'm really enjoying the game thus far and I might keep playing.

Lydiaele - I would go with the farmer thing except that this guy doesn't drop anything that I know of... he's only good for some XP, (he was blue to us @ 13), and a quest update... no physical items.

I guess they could have been really dumb farmers...

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, the gnoll armorer or something. I've killed him a few times with various alts. The first time I did he dropped a master chest (Master I spell, Adept I spell and a rare raw).

Any named has a slim chance of dropping fabled items. Even solo nameds, though it's very slim chance with them.

I was with a group killing group nameds down in StormHold recently, and I think they drop master chests every time now.

Monday my son and his girlfriend were grouped and on the island and had some dweeb send him a tell that simply said "invite me." No please just a demand. My son replied "no" and then the guy wanted to argue with him. I told him that he had probablly been sending him invites but since he was grouped it didn't work. I am not sure if that's how that goes but it was a good guess. I told him he should be honored that the dweeb even know how to use the keyboard.

Last night I decided to reroll my evil toons so I started the creation process. I was amazed to see that allmost all of the server listed their activity as high (not what it was called). I think there were only about 6 servers that weren't listed high and they were listed in the middle. None were listed as low.

The guy I'm talking about is a gnome who is part of the smash the machines quest up on level 3, (not the correct name). he is a solo target and stands in a small camp of gnolls over near the aqua-golems (again, not their correct name). Anyway, you blow up several of his machines and it ticks him off.

You smack him around for the update and move on! We stood there watching this trio kill him several times and he never appeared to drop anything, (no chests and they never bothered to loot him - just waited for the corpse to disappear and re-pop.) When my friend and I finally got a chance at him, he dropped nothing.

My theory: junior high and high school is (or soon will be) out. Graduation present was a retail KoS and a 3-month game pass.

About 2 weeks ago or so when I started playing it was close to that, only reverse the high and medium. Like 5 or so were High and the rest were Medium. Only time i've seen any server "Low" is when it is like middle of the night pretty much.

Anyways, it does seem like there have been a bunch of new players recently... and sadly it seems that 90% of them or more lack any kind of manners.

I think it could be a combination of both the people joining for the summer due to gifts and such (No matter what MMO i've played there is ALWAYS a influx of new players in the summer due to no school for all the kiddies) and possible plat sellers trying to rebuild some. Yesterday I got a tell from someone who was very likely a plat seller saying "I've got lots of gold, tell me if you want some." or something to that extent. So since SOE is cracking down on them hardcore from what I can tell, probably quite a few chars needing to be rebuilt on new accounts and such, and it aint like they don't got the money for as many new accounts as they need....

It's funny, when I play WoW, I expect the lack of politeness due to many new people starting to play MMOs. But when I play EQ2, Im used to a more mature base of players. It's rare I get the spam invites but when I do I have no problem telling them that that type of behavior is frowned upon in the game and to knock it off. Of course, Im being PC here.

I agree that most players in WoW are ruder and less mature than in EQII, and playing that game I expected to see that behavior. When I came to this game, I realized that it WAS more mature-and came to expect maturer behavior.

But just because you have come to expect 'good' behavior from a variety of people there, doesn't mean every newbie who rolls of the Isle is going to be nice-and if they arent, they dont have to be from WoW or 'kiddies'

I hate that kind of thing, most people I meet on MMO's believe that *almost every* 12, 13, 14 year old are immature and rude. And some of the time that is true, but lots of 12,13,14 year olds act and say that they are older(and maturer) BECAUSE once people know(or think) that they are younger, they start to look down upon them. I can't count how many times I have had a guild, friend or groupy turn away from me just because I let one thing slip, they find out Im 13, and just instantly hate and look down on me because of that.

Bottom line- Dont compare age/previous experiences(WoW for instance) with how mature the person is. It's just those few people who act very childish that give us all a bad name.

I would have to agree with the whole age thing....back in EQI, I was 13ish and if I told anyone my age I would be treated much..much differently...even if I have been speaking to them for a year (in which case at the time most people assumed I was 20+ due to my grammar, maturity...etc...)

when I was a GL in EQ1, I had one officer who was so mature and articulate, that I automatically assumed he was in his late 20's, early 30's. I found out he was only 14. No one in our guild ever treated him differently except to let it be known we loved having him as part of our ranks and was a true asset to the guild. To this day, I still chat with him frequently via yahoo and myspace and we try to game together on other games. I never look at the "age" factor, but the maturity level. Being an adult does not automatically give you maturity. And vice versa to teens

I am so guilty. Whenever I have grouped or been chatting with someone I find out they are low teenish I freak. My first thought is "oh my god, what did I say to them? Did I get too flirty with them? Did I behave myself? Was my language ok?"

Once I have finished freaking out I am fine. LOL
