Hello!

I haven't played EQ2 since release, I didn't enjoy it much and switched to WoW... and now I'm getting sort of bored with it.

I've been trying to install the Trial of The Isle and whenever I get it installed and I try to load EQ2 I get an error. :(

I found my EQ2 CDs and thought maybe I could install it again and play for a month to try it out, well unfortunately I got the same error when trying to install it.

Here's a screenshot of the error.

I checked the EQ2 site for support, but I couldn't find anything.
If you have any advice can you please post it.

Thanks :D

That's a very generic error message. Isn't it helpful of MicroSoft to shield your innocent eyes from the real problem. :P

I have found that when errors like this come up after installation shutting down and restarting often helps, but you may have already done that.

I fixed the problem by downloading the EQ2 installer from the site and it's now up and running!

Now I need to pick a server/class/race etc and start playing again :)

EQ2 installer is a GODSEND.

I bought game and disc 3 of 9 was flawed and I couldnt install. I just used EQ2 installer, punched in my cd-key and 4 hours (not too long considering) later EQ2 + KoS + patches were all installed.

Best feature evar!

The UI is definitely a hurdle.

Thankfully everything is modifiable in game. It pays to take 5 minutes and fiddle around with it so its too your liking.

Not only modifiable, but completely replacable. Unlike EQ Live, where the UI was sacred and mods were considered unholy, here in EQ2, the devs have given us free reign to upgrade the controls of the game screen to our hearts content.

If you visit http://www.eq2interface.com/ you can wander through dozens of complete sets and individual components that will allow you to totally pimp out your ride!

I am using the THOR complete interface and have been very happy with it. It comes with a auto-update system that lets you painlessly upgrade the UI following any major live update. I am also very fond of the tradeskill window offered by Fetish. It has a n area at the bottom of the window that shows your current buffs and your power/health status. It also features the ability to use the enter key to start & the escape key to end combines. (No more mouse!!!)

P.S. - while you're there, download and install the EQ2MAP mod. You'll be glad you did!
