default to toonFollow

Hi all, I have a slight issue on one of my accounts. I let my son create a toon and now when I launch EQ II it is defaulting to that toon. When I click through the splash screens to lauch the program it continues to launch all the way to that toon. In another words it is loggin into that toon. I then have to camp that toon to character select. I knew that if anyone would know the fix for this it would be you all.

I have never had any thing like this happen before and it seems to only happen on my secondary computer. I have looked to see if maybe something got set to default to this little fellow and haven't found anything yet.

While I am at it I still have an old issue that I have never found the solution to. When I take screen shot or paperdoll shots on my main computer there are horizontal lines through the image. This only happens in EQ II and not in EQ Live. This particular computer has an high end graphic card and should not have any issues at all. It is an ATI All in Wonder 9800. Ok, so it's getting a little on the whiskered side in age now, but it runs with graphics selections set high without lag.

I posted this question once before here and on the Sony boards and never got any suggestions. Suggestions???

For the first problem, you probably have a little check button selected for Auto-Play ON, and your son's character selected.

While the program is loading, you can click the little down arrow next to the character name and get the list to select a new toon.

If you uncheck the Auto-Play, the game will update but then stop just before the splash screens. You can also select a toon at that point, then click the big red Play button.

and for the 2nd issue... I have seen some odd things on ATI cards but never horizontal lines. The 2 ATI cards I have used have done things like showing me "dirt speckles" that flash on and off the scren like in an old movie. And also things like oddly shaped patches of texture that won't resolve and show as a white or black shape for a few frames.

I have a feeling that the game just doesn't run as smoothly if you're not running Nvidia, but that is just a gut feeling. I'm sure your drivers are up to date so that shouldn't be the problem... don't know what else you could do...

This is going to be the least helpful suggestion in history, but it might point you in the right direction.

There is a setting in your video options, either in game options or in your video card's settings in Windows that related to whether the screen is totally redrawn every time or whether half the horizontal lines are drawn on each pass. I forget what it's called.

The line you're seeing is running by way too fast to see when you're looking at the screen, but it shows up when you take a screen shot which freezes the screen to a single point in time.

You could change the setting and see what happens to your performance and graphics. If it's a big drawback, you could possibly set it only when you're about to take a screenshot and then set it back.

Tut, thanks for that tip. I have never before even notided that little drop down check list beneath the big red play button. I guess that's most likely because I am looking for the big red play button. He did have his toon selected. It was most annoying.

I am still working on the video thing. I suppose it's not a big deal though. The only time I notice it is when I want to do a screen shot. But Lydiele you explained what the problem is very nicely. With that knowledge behind me I should be able to at least approach the problem with a more technical understanding.

Thanks guys, I knew you would come through for me as always.
