Thinking of coming back - Sony says the games improved?Follow

So I got this letter from Sony yesterday.

I guess the game as been radically redesigned. No longer Archtypes, Professions and Subprofessions? That sounds good.

Are you still bound to your starting city by your profession. Ie, no Coercers in Qeynos, etc.

What other changes have been implemeted?

Any changes to purchasing spell upgrades (see my other post, hehe)?

When did you leave, did you play either DOF or KoS expansions?

Basically they cut out a lot of the garbage, made the game much more accessible. I noticed a huge difference.

The last time I left was before any expansions.

Ive gotten the free 14 day (or 10 day) reinvite back, so I guess I will see what its like.

Can any profession live in either of the cities?

I guess they still have two opposing factions. Or was this cut out as well?

Thanks,
Mal

The sticky here gives a lot of good info on the changes and what the game currently entails.

I must say, there have been loads of great improvements. The game is fun to play (don't know much about crafting though), and perfectly doable solo. Ofcourse, grouping is fun too and usually yields better rewards.

Some classes are only good, some are only evil, and some are neutral. The neutral classes can start in either city. A character can also do a Betrayal quest to leave their home town to join and be accepted by the opposing town.

The two main factions are Qeynos and Freeport. There are many other factions throughout the game that will raise or lower your standing with that particular group of mobs.

In the Desert of Flames expansion, there are 3 rival factions in the city of Maj Dul. They are in a constant power struggle making the streets a precarious place. You can choose a faction to align to and support, however it turns the others against you.

But can an evil class betray, and still advance in their class in a good city?

Still confused on this bit. I would like to try out Necromancer or Coercer, but I will only play in Qeynos.

Thanks,
Mal

If you start out as a necromancer and betray, you will become a conjuror. Those classes that have counterpart classes become those classes. So you don't get to see a coercer in Qeynos, you would become an illusionist.

However, if you were a Freeport wizard and you betrayed, you would be a Qeynos wizard as wizard/warlock are neutral classes (as are dirge/troubador; berzerker/guardian; and warden/fury).

Heh, I just bought this DL. Bhod, I hate you. That thread in WoW genral got me all excited about joining :) I will probably join the Nejena server. I don't know many people, well I know no people playing the game. So, if you want to show me around, I will probably be named Dragosani or Rainjar :P

Hey dragosan. Welcome to the game. You can always look me up on Najena too. Normally on under Rrikor or Kavoa. If you cant get ahold of me just do a /who all foundation and someone there will most likely help you out. We tend to bring most of the new people from allah into the guild thanks to tut. :P. Thats how I ended up over at Najena to during the server moves.
