EQ player looking for EQ2 class advice.Follow

#1 May 17 2006 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
I played EQ as a Ranger, so which class would be best to use in EQ2? I tried Ranger in EQ2, but it seems to lack healing magic and it's weapon specialty appears to be hatchets, besides arrows of course... In other words, which EQ2 class best matches up to EQ's Ranger? You know, Bow and arrow with swords and healing and offensive magic.

EQ1 rangers were more of a fighter class, they could tank and hold aggro to a degree. EQ2 rangers are scout class, more like EQ1 rogues.

I think the only class remotely close would be Paladin, they can heal, use swords and use a bow, but of course their bow skills (or melee damage output) aren't going to be anywhere near a ranger's.

Monks can heal a little and use throwing stars for range, but they can't use swords or bows.

I think those are the only classes outside priests who can heal, other than summoners who can only heal their pet.

Im pretty sure the only class other then healers that can heal are the Palidin which is a tank but I think can use a bow but mainly be a hand to hand combat.

Other then that the Dirges and Troubs should have some healing songs. Havnt really looked at there abilities to closely but they are a DPS class if on the lower end then the Ranger and Assasin for scouts.

Rangers in EQ2 are still rangers... difference here is that we do not share spell lines with the druids as we did in EQ live. Here, druids are healers and rangers are scouts. There, the two classes were inter-mingled.

Personally, I don't mind my EQ2 ranger not having heals and other druid spells since I always got them long after my druid did and the abilities were always kind of puny in comparison!

Unless I've totally lost my marbles, I don't believe Pally's and SK's can use bows Smiley: smile

My Necro could heal others besides his pet. And with AA I could steal my pet's health and heal others as well. All in all at lvl 42 I could heal about 600-1k hp on a player.

I wouldnt put bards as a healing replacement for your former ranger. Troubs get a regen buff, but dirges dont get a non self heal until the 60+ game.

Now they do use swords, minor bow work, and offensive spells. Then again, I almost never use my bow, my bow spells suck compared to my regular ranged damage songs.

If you want a healing melee pally would be your best bet, or just play a ranger with no heals.
