How the heck?Follow

So how the heck is everyone? I haven't been posting as much as I once did and kind of miss everyone. I have just been so busy that I end up doing some partial lurking.

I have good news but you have to keep it a secret. As many of you may know I still play EQ Live once a week. It's family night and that's what my son's and future-daughter-in-law play. I think my youngest son is kinda sorta getting more interested in EQII. Last night he even got his fiancee to play. I am keeping my fingers crossed that eventually I can bring the whole family over to the dark side.

I really don't enjoy the old EQ like I used to. It just seems that unless you have a full group at levels 50+ you can't gain XP. My eldest son couldn't join us last night so it was only the 3 of us, 55 warrior, 52 cleric, and 53 beasty. We tried doing an LDON and we got owned. So we did a Monster Mission, which we all hate, and got owned. We tried another Monster Mission which ended up being totally pointless and a big waste of time.

I was so thrilled when the kids started paying for their own accounts but now I am actually considering opeining another account just for EQ II just for those nights when we are only three. The kids have all purchased their accounts in year allotments and I don't think I can pay for EQ II on one of their accounts. Does that make sense to anyone? Although I could try it. I have the EQ II software for the future's account. It would be great and I would be willing to pay for the monthly EQ II.

Well that's my secret and I know it's safe with you all.

I just started back in eq1 and I can see they have nerfed the monster missions yet again to the point they are not worth the time. I mean when they first came out you got 1AA point worth of exp (granted that might have been too much). Then they nerfed it so you only got half. Now at lvl 12 I got a big 25% exp for the 45 minute freeport run. Now in 45 min I could have killed mobs in kurns and got bone chips, double exp, etc.

SOE ripped people off on DODH. I honestly think they knew good and well it was too powerful as far as the exp MM's gave but they waited till everybody bought it then nerfed it to the point it was pointless. And I won't even go into the time it takes to level up the intelligent items or the monster shrouds.

Anyways sorry to go off topic but you just made such a good point I had to ramble on about it :P

I am enjoying eq1 abit more now. Me and a friend play it and we are just taking it slow. I am a 19 necro now and he is 15 cleric. We got 2 levels soloing in unrest last night.

Zoobecca,

I feel your pain. I ended my Eq1 career with a 57 enchanter with 7 AA points. He had fairly good gear and was a great character to play. THe Monster Missions ruined it for me. I overdid it and proceeded to get burnt out. I was never interested in Raiding (not enough time) and exp'ing by myself was a very painful process.

I have recently revived my interest in EQ2. I have a 51 pally/60 carpenter who is parked for the moment. I have been playing a conjuror who is level 34 adventurer and 23 jeweler. Been enjoying the low end game.

I don't know if it would work, but if you upgraded one of their accounts to Station Access they could play either game (plus Star Wars Glaxies, Matrix Online, Planetside and Vanguard when it comes out) for $10.00 more per month. Cheaper than $15.00 per month for another EQ2 only account. I'm pretty sure you can upgrade an existing account by paying the difference.
