SOE goes overboard on punishmentsFollow

Just a warning to those who even think about exploiting anything in one of their games for simply using a quest to go exile on a pvp server they deleted many characters on the pvp servers and on top of that 20 day suspensions.

even though going exile was supose to be one of the big points to pvp on their servers

Well if you exploit then you get what you deserve. However I think I know what quest you are talking about. It's HQ isn't it? Makes you an exile while you do the quest. What were people doing to exploit it?

I don't understand all the rules on PVP, but the only exile quest I know of is Bone Bladed Claymore? I don't see how being exiled helps you on PVP?

That is nothing though. One time there was a plat dup in eq1. The people who did it got banned (fine they deserve it). However they also banned players who sold stuff to people who dupped plat. Now how does a player with a bazaar merchant set up stop somebody who has dupped plat from buying from them?

ya, bbc
we did it so that we would have enough people to kill other than the very low qeynos 62-70 pop. bunch of whiners got on the pvp forums and made tons of posts griping about it

was only supose to be a 72 hour suspension but when the same whiners heard about it, they demanded that the accounts be banned. so 2 days after suspension was supose to be over they deleted characters

Ya they did the same thing in EQ2 when there was a plat dup bug. Anybody who had the duped plat on them no matter how were banned.

I have a very hard time believing this.

So a bunch of people knowingly became exiles just to change their good/evil alliance so they'd have more folks to kill.

Well tough cheddar, that's an exploit and I'm not surprised they were tough on the culprits. Smiley: disappointed

Very unfair to the people who got killed because of it.

would you say the same thing to somebody who went to do that quest and his own side jumped on him?

No because he was taking a known risk.

so a group of exiles running together is worth getting a character wiped?

A bunch of players deliberately set out to use the mechanics of a particular quest, not to advance that quest, but to be able to kill other players that were supposed to be their allies.

Yes, it's an exploit, and tough punishment was warranted.

I don't agree with the punishment. My idea of a exploit is something you know good and well is wrong the minute you do it (although Im sure some will argue that is the case here). When you find a way to dup plat you know good and well your stealing basically. In this case they simply did a quest in the game. SOE should have removed this quest etc.

I think the 72 hour ban should have been enough punishment IMO. Think about the people who might ahve paid 1 year advance for the account. SOE does not refund their money. Think about the people who have over a year of time invested in their account. They should not lose it over being naughty on a PVP server.

Sorry to you who lost your accounts. Far as feeling sorry for the people who got killed.....ITS PVP it happens get over it! I have said all along PVP is nothing but people finding some dirty way to kill you. Far as I am concerned what they did is no worse then picking at somebody 8 levels below them wiht half health.

The so called "Exile" mechanic for high level players is not even in the game yet. They're adding a quest to the game (not just PvP) to give anyone at any level the capability to betray. That quest is supposed to be added in a future live update. The only people who are supposed to be exiles now are the lowbies in the middle of the existing Betrayal quest.

Yes, people have been enthusiastic about the exile system, setting up exile guilds and playing as outlaws without loyalty to (or support from) a home city. Blackguard even said he was intrigued by the ideas people were coming up with. BUT NOT UNTIL AFTER IT'S IN THE GAME! Geeze.

These people jumped the gun via an exploit just so they could kill anyone they wanted to without faction consequences. Now you're making a feeble attempt to get back at them the only way you can, by whining (how ironic) and misrepresenting what happened. (That's lying to you and me, skippy.) Sorry, no sympathy.

BTW I also have a hard time believing they would ban you based on what you say here simply because of player whining. People exploited the mentoring system like crazy in PvP and no one was banned. There must have been something more than just ganking going on. I don't want to speculate beyond that.

Here is yet another reason to avoid PvP servers. These infantile morons aren't satisfied with being able to kill other players. They have to demonstrate the existance of their cajones by cheating in order to improve their score.

Bravo... Do me a favor will ya? Stay isolated there so adults don't have to tolerate your stupidity.

kids do it for scores, we did it so we wouldnt have to kill people that were lower than us

Yeah, it gets better. (Or maybe I just figured it out.) Apparently these people were repeatedly killing guildmates or other willing lackeys just to raise their scores and guild experience.

Player A exiles through the quest
Co-conspirator Player B stays affiliated with Freeport
Player A Kills player B 100 times with player B's consent
Player A and his/her guild gets tons of experience.

They didn't ban everyone who did it, just the worst offenders. If you weren't taking advantage to exhorbitantly pad your score, then you probably weren't banned. The stupidest thing about the whole farce is the guilty parties thought no one would notice. lol

They only banned/deleted the characters on the PvP servers, BTW, not entire accounts.

Actually I am glad to see that Letum's character was deleted. All he would do is delete the quest and start it over again to continue to rack up the kills. But to do this it was easy when you get 3k kill streak?? OMG...wonder how many times your guildie had to keep spaming the revive button. Oh well. No longer the Character of the Day but GONE!!!!
