Echoes of Faydwer:Follow

It looks quite promising, this is info I found on a different site:

SAN DIEGO, CA May 3, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced details on its latest plans for EverQuest II, which include a new expansion pack featuring an all new playable race and an adventure pack introducing an Asian flair to the popular massively multiplayer online game. Echoes of Faydwer, the third expansion for EverQuest II, is expected to be available on or around November 14, both at retail and via digital distribution for a suggested retail price of $39.99. The Fallen Dynasty is the third adventure pack for EQII and will be available this June by digital download only for a suggested retail price of $7.99 or at no additional charge to Station Access subscribers of two months or longer.

"Our newest offerings to the EverQuest II product line offer great fun for EQII fans," said Laura Naviaux, senior brand manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "Echoes of Faydwer is a content-rich experience for both the seasoned EverQuest II player and the newbie alike, since the new content is accessible from the start. With The Fallen Dynasty, higher level veterans of EQII can explore a unique adventure and gain all-new weapons that they can bring into the rest of the game world."

Echoes of Faydweris the third expansion pack for EverQuest II, and introduces a new playable race, The Fae. An enchanted race of winged creatures, the Fae dwell on the continent of Faydwer, in the arboreal city of Kelethin, the new starting city being added to this latest chapter in the EQII saga. Echoes of Faydwer includes over 350 new quests, a new selection of profession hats, cloaks, armor, and new horse mounts available to players of all levels. EQII players will encounter over 40 new types of creatures to face, more than 20 new zones and adventure areas, and will be able to compete against other players for new PvP (Player vs. Player) rewards, plus all-new items, equipment, spells and tradeskill recipes. The Achievement system introduced in the Kingdom of Sky expansion has been enhanced to include additional sub-class abilities, allowing players to further customize their charactersĺ abilities.

Developed in conjunction with SOEs Taiwan studio, The Fallen Dynasty Adventure Pack promises to deliver the same downloadable story-rich content seen in the previously released The Bloodline Chronicles and The Splitpaw Saga, but this time with Asian influenced adventure zones, weapons, tradeskill rewards, as well as all new quests.

The Fallen Dynasty introduces EQII players to a mysterious city shrouded in secrets and once ruled by a powerful entity. The Whistling Fist, an ancient order of monks, guard its veiled past, but seek adventurers brave enough to explore the mysteries of this forgotten civilization.

I'm excited with the new expansion and will probably get it. Blast SOE for keeping me on for just one more expansion! :) The playable Fae race, although they are winged, will not have flight. More like constant floating, flying carpet style. Now to decide which character slot to clear...

I reviewed the screenshots at the website and was surprised somewhat to see the tree-city almost identical to the EQ1 version. I was hoping for something a little more surreal and fantasy-like, maybe like the elven tree city in LoTR.

Even so, the extra features are cool, although reminiscent of other games:
- Cloaks: WoW-like.
- Armor sets that have extra powers with a full set: Diablo II-like.

I'll pass on the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack. It's disappointing SOE uses a real-life architecture and theme for a fantasy game. I can see it being applied to something like Age of Empires, but not EQ2. But seeing as how it was developed by their Taiwan studio, I bet they have the flaming SOE eye affixed on a different market...

I think this is great :) Seeing the old EQ zones updated is way more interesting to me than entirely new places like Maj'Dul and KoS.

They're adding a whole new continent for all levels with a new race and a new starting city - IMHO what a real expansion should be.

It doesn't mention it in the press release, but there will also be new augmentations for crafted items which add durability to armor or fire procs to weapons (those were the examples given, there could be more). Just when I was getting all discouraged and ready to quit over the great ongoing tradeskill nerf philosophy they throw us a bone. Woot! It could be useless, but it gives me hope.

Also, there will be no level cap increase.

Lots of younger people are into Asian culture these days, at least what they perceive it as from anime, martial arts movies and japanese video games. Personally, I think ...meh.... Sounds like a pretty big adventure pack though, with 7 areas, a town and an outdoor zone.

New starting place. How will that tie in with the evils start in Freeport and the goods start in Qeynos? Will the Faye be nuetral?

The way it struck me was that only the Fae could start there and they could not start anywhere else... But I am asuming most if not all of that...

I think $40 seems expensive for a expansion, wonder if it will include eq2 classic also? If it actually has alot of content (sounds like it will) maybe it will be worth $40. It would be the perfect expansion to include eq2 classic in though. If they do I will probably pick it up and start from scratch. I decided Im not real happy with playing a Tank. Always bugs me when I see lvl 50 healers and dps in groups killing orange and red mobs, but when your the tank your lucky if you get to tank yellow mobs sometimes and when you do many groups demand 2 healers or they want a guardian instead of a paladin.

I agree with the poster about old eq1 zones being more interesting. Kingdom of Sky just does not interest me at all. I think its a pain to go anywhere and the lay out if just annoying. Far as DOF goes I think Sinking Sands is a really neat zone and I enjoyed the instances off of it. However I hate Majdul because of it being so mazey, and my opinions of Pillars of Flame is about the same for the same reasons. Overall I am pleased with DOF though. I had alot of fun from 42ish up in that zone. Lots and lots of interesting quests that could be done solo.

Lotus posted this on the official site:

New Fae characters will start out Neutral.

The Fae are smaller then Gnomes when not hovering.

The Fae found in those screen shots are still in early development.

The Fae can appear cute or dark depending on how you customize your character.

does that answer your question about em being neutral?

I would think any race from Faydwer could start there: elves, wood elves, dwarfs, gnomes and the new fae (any more?).

I wonder if they'll have their own version of the newbie island. Seems like they would have to.

I heard from the grape vine that only Wood elves and fae will be starting there.
