Im getting tired of the game WoW got to lvl 60 and theres nothing to do.I was wondering should i consider picking up EQ2 my friend says its very laggy on his system "Pentium 4, geforce 5200fx etc" Since i have a better system "AMD Athalon 3400, geforce 6600 and 1 gig of ram " would i run this game at a descent framerate with some of the goddies in it> If anyone has similar setting could u send screenshots or even better a video of your gameplay?

You will find that EQ2 demands quite a bit more from your rig than WoW. The Big 3, RAM, video card, and CPU will make the difference. With your setup you should be able to run on a Balanaced setting.

You can go here and try the free demo for your self to see how your system will handle it. Remember that the demo is just the tip of the iceburg. The real adventure awaits...

EQ2 has several options for performance setting, depending on how well your computer can handle it. I actually will change my settings depending on what Im doing ingame. When soloing and grouping I can easily deal with balanced, although I actually prefer high performance. It takes away that "plasticy" look that many complain about. But when raiding with 24 people and a tone of mobs in the vicinity I'll bring it down to very high performance and the lag I would have gotten is virtually gone. Play around if you check out the trial to see what works for you. Also play with all different options you can. Its much more detailed oreiented than WoW and a lot of cool tools that will help you enjoy the game more. GL

I have a crappy system :(
- 1.7GHZ CPU
- 768MB RAM
- NVidea 5200 128MB video card

I play only on Extreme Performance, as anything higher will get choppy. This setting is the worst for graphics, almost no textures, no shadows, no lighting, no spell effect, no animations.

I just tried out that free TRial the game seems really choppy after i put in anything more than balanced, and everything after balanced there is an 1 fps decrease why is that? at balanced i get 15-20 fps and anything lower 30-45?

With your system, you are unlikely to get smooth play above balanced. but since balanced is the middle setting of the 7 available and since the game engine was designed to be beyond the capabilities of existing systems, halfway up is not that bad.

To get anywhere near the highest settings, you will need a top notch CPU, a 256MB graphics card and at least 2GB of ram.

I have a very nice rig (see above) and typically play at 1 step above balanced with little or no lag except under graphic intensive conditions, (like a full group in a tight dungeon with lots of annimated MoB models to be drawn).

Can't tell you what your FPS should be - that spec is of no interest to me since this is not an ego shooter.

I have a 3.4 P4
1gig of DDR2 ram or whatever the hell the goodstuff is
and a 128mb Radeon (which makes me sad)

I can run the game with graphics cranked and it gets a little choppy, since I group a lot I turned down the graphics and things run smooth, I rather level fast than have it look as pretty as it can.

Definitely more demanding than WoW though.

To be fair WoW has high end content (Strat/Scholo/BRS/DM don't count).

40 man raid content like AQ, BWL, MC all require that every single person in the raid knows what they are doing and does it well. 20 man raids like AQ 20 and ZG are the same. Lots of strategy and team work and a blast to participate in. Other than 40 man raids though it is lacking. Crafting is so simplistic, BG is fun but can become a grind,, no mentor system to help friends, nothing to unlock etc.

I am currently running an AMD 3200 with 1gg DC pc3400 and a BFG Tech 6600gt. I have yet to experiance any problems with gameplay on EQ2, Wow had some major lag issues in some areas but was mostly fine. I cant understand why some of you folks with actual good pc's would be having any issues at all. Some of you may have connection problems or really bad monitors that are attributing to yer ghosting/lag problems. Try lowering yer resolution a bit and raising yer hz up.

As far as the WoW thing, yes there are high end instances and yes they are just as tricky to complete as any eq1 boss fight and in some cases way more tricky. You cant tell me the first time you had core packs split you werent thinking omfg. Or Trying to fight Domo and not his cronies to win (before strats were posted) Or when the sons spawn on Rag. Not even counting Twin Emps what a pain lol. But yes at the same time there isnt quite enough content there for those who have blead the other instances to death.
