I had downloaded Trial of the Isle about 6-8 months ago and it was absolutely horrible. I detested it, why they would use that horrible snippet of the game as a trial is beyond me. However I got talked into trying EQ2 so I picked up the KoS + EQ2 bundle dirt cheap and I am currently taking it for a spin. So far I am having a blast with my Wood Elf Ranger. I just have a couple questions.

Question 1 - The Market Board. Anyone know of any good FAQ's tips or add ons for this, I find I have a hard time navigating it.

Question 2 - Crafting. I don't even know where to start, how to get recipes etc. Once again an FAQ or basic rundown of who to speak with in Qeynos and which crafts are useful would be nice.

Welcome back, glad you're enjoying the game.

The market board, when viewed from your room, it sort of not-ituitive. Good news is there's only so many buttons to worry about.

Your room has 2 vault slots. The smart adventurer will place a box or backpack in them to increase storage space. Those slots are also your For-Sale slots. Items for sale in there will appear to all players when they search the Broker. Open the market board, select Vault, and begin assigning prices. TIP: Browse the market first to see what others are selling the same items for. Adjust your prices as you like to stay competitive.

You can check/uncheck items for sale if you want to sell only a few items in your vault. You can't move items back and forth from your personal intentory to your vault from that merchant window. You must open your own bags and the vault slots then frag/drop items back and forth.

TIP: You can't remove a for-sale item from your vault. Go to the merchant window, make it "Not For Sale", then you can move it. (it won't be red anymore in the vault slot)

You can also sell items in your personal bags, but they will only show on the Broker when you are in your room. If you leave, they will come off the broker list. When you log out, items in your vault will stay on the list for 24 hours. To get them back on the broker list, simply log back on.

Here's a few crafting links that might help you out:

SOE Official Tradeskill Forum
How-To of Crafting
All The Recipies You Can Stand

Remember, to start crafting, you need to go into the crafting zone in any town, usually your home town. Being a low level crafter, you can only start in the wholesale zone (the only one where the NPC will let you in).

You have a note in your inventory about tradeskilling. Examine it to get the list of wholesale zones in Qeynos.

Talk to the NPC inside to start some quests to craft different items, gain tradeskill exp, and gain some items.

What server are you on, by the way?

Mainly on Blackburrow. DSD, Johnnny etc from the Asylum are there.

Apparently most of the Admins for the Allakhazam EQ2 site are on Unrest and I saw that most of the regulars for the Allakhazam EQ2 people are on Najena

Yeah, most of us received tutan's excellent invitation and started on Najena.

not sure if you know this or not, but tradeskilling is a completely different world in EQ2. Think leveling like you do normally, but only through tradeskills. You can do both on one char though.

I have never bothered getting past lvl 6 in tradeskilling so I cant help you, but I have some friends on Blackburrow that I can send your way if you find yourself with more detailed questions.

Items listed by viewing the market board in your room are only for display and info. If you want to buy them, you need to scoop up some cash and hustle over to the local Broker.

They are NPC's located in the wholesale tradeskill instance in each Qeynos suburb. Only exception (there's always at least one), there's an outdoor Broker in Qeynos Harbor and one inside a merchant building in North Qeynos.

Once you get to the broker, double-click and bring up the Broker Window. From there, you can search for items by name, type, slot, class, level, price, and more.

Don't spend too much for low level items, as you will soon outgrow them. Level 20 is usually when a new set of gear opens up for use.

Well, normally you should just go to all the suburbs of Qeynos and through Qeynos itself. There are loads of quests to be had, normally quests in the first mob areas like the Caves or Oakmyst or the likes. But you can find several quests that will lead you to Antonica.

But at lvl 10 and 11, you can still find plenty of things to do in those first areas.

There is no pressure for anything though, you can wander through Antonica and just hunt there, especially with a group you should have no problems in the beginner areas (near the gates and around the two guard towers near the Claymore monument)

It is handy to go there when you can still find low lvl mobs that are green, some items that begin quests drop in chests. (Bootstrutter's guide to Antonica is one that every beginner should have)

Like others said, for level ten you can continue in the zones off of Qeynos, such as Forest Ruins, or Oakmyst forest. Also, now that you've hit ten, I can mentor with you. In Antonica there are quite a few lvl 12 heroic gnoll mobs we could easily take down, when you see me online.

Oakmyst Forest has lvl 9 Bear Cubs that I can chew through at a steady pace. However the lvl 10 Momma Bears absolutely hand my *** to me. I googled 'EQ2 Leveling Guide' and the one site suggested soloing beetles in Antonica, I'll try that later.

DSD I would be more than happy to have a sophisticated older woman mentor me!

Questing is at your level the fastest and most profitable way to gain levels. Loads of quests will give you armour and weaponry, not to mention money. Some can boost your faction, but I'm not sure if there are actually many of those at that level.

A good thing to gather more quests would be to buy the language primers. Lots of quest givers only give the quests to those that speak their language, you can buy primers at the local scribe in just about every city suburb. Unfortunately, they are not cheap (12 silver each), they do pay themselves back but it can be a steep purchase at a lower lvl.

Should be logging on tonight to play along with DSD.

Thanks to Tutan and Zie for the advice though, keep it coming.

by the way, one thing you should do on many items you loot is to right click it and examine it. Many times loots that drop are things that may begin a quest. Many may be language quests, like off the gnolls, giants, and such. you gain xp for completeling those, as well as acheivement xp. Acheivement xp is something new and start at lvl 10. You can check your Acheivement levels by hitting L. Everytime you discover a new part of a zone ( except the zones in Qeynos, Antonica, andI believe Thundering Steppes)you will gain acheivement along with regular xp.Like talent points in WoW, you will have "trees" with which you can spend these points. Make sure to check out all your options, there are plenty of good things to choose from.

You also gain acheivement by killing most named mobs out there the first time, and finishing many, but not all, quests.

When getting gear upgrades, you want to get items that boost your primary stat. Each class has a primary stat, and it determines the size of your power pool. The bigger your primary stat, the bigger the power pool.

Fighter: STR
Scout: AGI
Mage: INT
Priest: WIS

Additionally, stats have the following effects:

STR: increases melee damage
AGI: increases avoidance
STA: increases hit points
INT: increases spell damage
WIS: increases spell resistance

So as a fighter, get STR boosting items to raise your power pool (important to use all your skills), and STA to increase your max hit points.

The Ranger needs AGI boosting items for power pool, and STR/STA mix for damage and hit points.

Lastly fill every slot you have with something, no matter how small. Gear is pretty much disposable, meaning you will always be looking for an upgrade. At level 12, your Pally should have chest pieces that have mitigation of 80+, and the other pieces should have mitigation of 40+. There are always better items, the broker is your friend. :)

Lvl 10 or lvl 20? Don't know for sure myself as my char was already lvl 20 when the expansion was released but I did believe it was 20?

Anyway, only quests that are blue or better give achievement xp. A green quest will not give any, and even blue ones tend to give 1% or so. A good way to get swift achievement xp imo is exploration, ofcourse that only can go so far, for instance I've already explored the KoS zone myself (anyone can do that, just go there from Nek or TS and use the platform to fly to all the other parts, just do not stray too far from the platform)

Named ones have to be blue too, although I have had exceptions to that rule so I'm not that sure.

And don't forget collection quests, those can give great rewards as it is, plus achievement xp. If you can complete a collection of a couple of lvls higher, you can get over 10% xp (only had that a couple of times though) and a great armour part. Mind you, at times I do get carried away at brokers to get the final parts.

Correct, level 20 to begin the AXP paths.

The NPC for turning in collection quests is in North Qeynos near the steps of the castle, under the large tree. (name escapes me) You can also buy the collection pieces from the broker and examine just as you would a piece you had found yourself. That can get expensive, as some pieces are rare and subsequently expensive.

The bear cubs are "solo" MoBs, but those Mommas are "heroic". They have ^ over their titles, fancy frames around their names or something to indicate they're not your average bear. It depends on your settings.

So, two MoB's might be level 10 and blue to you, but you experience will be a lot different with a ^^^ than with a solo, or vvv types (the latter usually come in groups, but you can still solo them.)

Most people can only solo ^^^ heroics when they're very green or gray, they're meant for groups. (They do drop better loot though.)

Think of up arrows as bonus levels and hit point multipliers for your enemies.
