Hello,

My first MMORPG expirence was with Final Fantasy 11. After finding it taking too much time to actualy do anything in, I switched for EQ2 afte the christmas, not too long after it was released. However, I soon left for WoW because EQ2, like FF11, had slow leveling, and little solo potential, and because getting items and skills was difficult with the outrageous player prices....

However, with my college semester coming to a close im thinking of picking up some mmorpg gameing during the summer. I've heard through newsletters SOE still sends me that over the time after I left EQ2 that it has had a lot of changes, especialy in making it more casual gamer friendly, and such.

My biggist attraction to WoW is its faster paced and solobility, but I've found it lacks the community in games like FFXI and EQ2. However, I've missed partying, due to the fact that fun and challenging partying in WoW really only happens in instances, and the fun of dynamic group combat doesn't really hit you unless your far into the game. I was wondering with the changes that EQ2 has undergone might have made this game something that I will find more appealing, based on what I have mentioned thus far.

Thank you for your opinions, and sorry for the long post >>. Your comments are well appretiated!

The changes made have been significant and really too many to list, but here are some highlights:

Content: I can't seem to take 3 steps without tripping over some solo mob. You will find a ton of content available to the solo player, along with just as much group content. Remember that group mobs drop better loot because they are harder.

The noobie isle has been revamped with a new series of quests, NPC's, and content. It still happens on the same island, but there is a good and evil version, depending on what side you pick.

There are many new and revamped quests in all zones and all levels. Griffon towers are now in many more zones, after a live event for players to help contruct them. Antonica and other zones have seen the emergence of Spires, giant teleportation devices that take players to Kingdom of Sky.

Speaking of expansions, there are 2 adventure packs and 2 expansion packs giving a player plenty to do.

Groups: Much more friendly way to get groups, and you can view, invite, and accept LFG from all zones. No longer must you be in the same zone.

Balance: All MMO's continue to have this happen, and the classes here in EQ2 have had thte same. Many will say that Rangers and Healers too a hit in the last few months while others got bumped up, but it is a continuing process.

Still, all classes can solo, and all classes are viable in a group. Healers, of course, are popular as they keep a group alive, but I've played in many groups with no healer and we did fine.

Class Development: No longer do you play a "rookie" class until level 10, pick a class, then pick again at level 20. Now, you start as the final class you want. So you will begin as a Ranger, or a Conjurer, or a Fury, etc.

It's probably best to try this free playable demo to give you a feel for what has changed. remember, that's just the beginning...
