A fury will do fine as the main, (or only), healer in most any group you will ever be in.

I say 'most' because you will probably never get an invite to be main healer in the main tank group for a high end raid but other than that, you'll do just fine. You might even get into that ver same MT raid group as a backup healer...

Your fury has the highest damage output of any priest and so, does real well solo and in small groups where everyone is required to wear more than one hat.

The only time you might need a 2nd healer is if the tank has poor gear and is trying to tank mobs too powerful for him/her. And in that case any healer will probably need a backup.

I had this problem with my 18 fury. We had a lvl 17 paladin tanking lvl 20 to 21 mobs. This paladin had a mixture of all types of armor (cloth, leather, plate, chain) and alot of it was from the newbie island still. The casters was dieing constantly because he couldn't hold agression (proably app1 taunt, if he was even using it). And when he did hold agression I couldn't keep him alive with a master 2 HOT(Heal Over Time), adept 1 HOT, and chain casting Adept 1 normal heals. Once again I don't think any healer could have done much better in that situation.

Funny thing about fury as main healer, which most of you may not know, since few on these boards play PvP. Furies are the most popular healers in PvP, more sought after then even clerics. Why? Group regen heal.

In pvp, often multiple members of a group take damage at once. Scout targets the caster, tank takes the healer, and mage nukes/roots scout. So good group heals are much more important then in EQ2 PvE, where in a good group, usually only one person (the tank)takes damage. As far as group heals go, Furies (druids) are king. There's a detailed explanation on the official boards, followed by cries of "nerf Druids", but essentially it boils down to the fact that is everyone is taking damage in a group, the Druid regen heals way more then Wards or reactives.

A defiler group ward, for instance, wards the whole group vs.x amount, let's say 300. The whole group shares that ward, so if one attack hits a group member for 300, or 3 attacks hit 3 group members for 100, the ward is gone.

Cleric heals I believe go off a certian # of times, let's say 9, for x healing amoutn, let's say 100. So after 9 hits, it's done.

Druid heal gives every group member X hp regen (let's say 50)every 2 sec for 10 or 15 sec. So at 50 for 10 sec, that's 500 X 6 for 3000. These aren't exact amounts, but you can see what i'm getting at. Furies/wardens have the best group heals, since they heal each group member individually for a given amount, every 2 sec. Cleric and Shaman group heals aren't even close.

Just a fun fact to suppport the idea that Druids are not 2nd class healers, at least on PvP servers.
