A lot of PvP depends on the player, but here is the scoreboard, you can see what classes are on top by mousing over the last symbol.

Right now a healer is actually the best PvP, but not many other healers close to them.

Bad link Dirges, or at least i can't bring it up. I'd imagine that for scouts, ranger and assassin would be an awesome choice for PvP.

Didn't they just nerf brigands?

Brigands had a buff changed to a proc that makes you immune to AEs. It now procs on CAs and lasts for 5 seconds. Long story short, I now have to worry about resist gear and jousting. FOr brigands that never played another class like I have it is a huge change in play style, for me it means I dont get the crutch I had before.

The buff is now basically useless to depend on, if you get it Yippee! If not, joust!

I played a brigand up to 20 and didn't like the feel, I also think my swashie puts out just as much damage as my brigand.

Swashies tend to do more damage than Brigands, Briggies got the debuffages.

YMMV.

I wonder if healers are on top of the PvP stats because groups with a healer will do better, or if it means healers actually do well in solo PvP? If you're deciding on a class simply for PvP, it is good to consider both offense and defense, group and solo. For example, if you are soloing and get ganked as an assassin, you can Evac away. Nice defense that makes your stats look good if you play solo PvP. So which class is best for PvP? ... once again, it all comes down to HOW you want to play.

Brigands are still really good even after all the nerfs. You just need to take the time to learn stun/root locks and the diffrent AA lines.

Most PVP Brigs tend to be STR/WIS - Str line is really effective vs healers
Wis good for the 70% double attacks

Then some perfer STR/AGI - Sailwind in PVP ftw.

Or if your really a cool grovey brigand you could try STA/AGI*STR
Sta line at lev 70 you can easily bust over 8k hitpoints and you get a 10%+ block chance added to your defences. Only go STA/AGI if you have claymore raiper otherwise STA/STR is good.

My thought on ranger...

I love the ranger...

Nothing is better than being all sneaky, stealthed out, have someone on track... stalk him down or wait till he comes near you... hide on a high ledge overlooking your prey, then delivering massive DPS from above, and they dont have a clue where its coming from...

Or doing a hit and run on a group of freeps...

Long distance massive DPS is great for SOlo PVP... sneak up on a group of freeps/Qs... pick out the paper armor Mage in the group... deliver your massive blows... then run off at 85 percent sprint till you break combat, and run off at 84 normal run speed.. (if all the right character / aa is picked)

Also, in groups... you can tend to get lost on the outskirts... sit up on that tree, or on the ledge, or off in the distance, and deliver strikes to whoever you want... while the battle rages on in the closed circle of the swashy, tank, and healer...u can get lost on the outskirts delivering the massive DPS that rangers have

PROBLEMS:

close combat.... for rangers, it plain blows.... your main DPS is from afar. get up close, or get caught off guard by someone, and your main DPS strikes are useless unless u can get away and stealth in the middle of a fight... which takes tremendous skill

can it be done>.. yes very much so. Can easily learn the tricks to knockdown, stuns, stifles, then move back for your massive DPS.... its just better to be the first striker

As for Swashy class... u get caught off guard, and get attacked, all your DPS is upclose, so that attacker better be ready for a world of hurt..... u want to be up close and personal, to deliver massive DPS and stuns/stifles/knockdowns... etc...

Now u cant go and stalk a group of freeps/Q's unless u can take them all.... there is no hit and run from afar with Swashy... u got to get down and dirty and up close with them... so its a different playing field... u cant get lost on the outskirts with a swashy....

As for me. I prefer Swashy over Ranger, just cuz of the distance fighting required... I could never play anotehr class that doesnt have tracking or stealth or evac again... how could u live without that... blind and stranded.... bah :)
