Okay, im not realli high in income, n imma just be starting everquest 2, so i was wondering if i buy the game how far can i get or play at at all without get any of the expansions n stuff?. are the expansions n adventure packs required and the differences between them?. Also i was from everquest 1, and i was hardcore back then n got everything that was out. But since i haven't gotten familar with the game yet i was wondering which things do i hvae to buy to play Everquest2.
The basic game has a level cap of 50. Desert of Flames raises the cap to 60. Kingdom of Sky raises it again to 70.
If you buy the retail version of Kingdom of Sky, it comes with the basic EQ2 game free.
Adventure packs:
- Bloodline Chronlicles: 30'ish dungeon, nice items inside, vampires. $5
- Splitpaw Saga: Scalable Gnoll dungeons like LDoN, very good content within, plus the best quest ever cough-Harclave-cough. $8
Expansions:
- Desert of Flames: Raises level cap to 60, spells are now only available through a faction Court. Brings in a desert setting with another whole city. Also has an area and enables voice emotes. $30'ish
- Kingdom of Sky: Raises level cap to 70, think floating islands in the sky. Spells are now only crafted or looted. $30'ish
You could buy the basic game and be well entertained for a long time, unless you are a hardcore player and like to skip content.

DoF and KoS area must the others are optional. however until late 40's u can get DoF then on to KoS in mid 50's. i saythis because u indicated cost as a limiting factor. I recently made a conj and retired my paladin> i lvl'd the conj so fast he never went into splitpaw but pnce and never into the vampires lair. so it depends on what u want and what u can afford. I am a 57 conj now and can solo only in a couple of zones in KoS, but can rip up DoF except epic mobs and some of the named

thx u two for the reply, it helps me alot n showed me wat each of them come with. But i have a question retail verision of DoF? wat do u mean by that like the cd from the store or wat?.
because i hvaen't bought anything yet so i was wondering wat shold i get that will save me the most money, buy eq2 then dof separately or wat? any combine sets?. please help

The KoS retail (store bought) package includes the base game for around $30.00. DoF is only sold on it's own for about $20.00.
It's kind of a dumb setup because it would be difficult at best to jump from the original content to KoS, and I wouldn't skip DoF anyway, it was a much better expansion than KoS, IMHO.
Like someone else said, you can wait to get DoF when you hit 45 or so. In the meantime you'll have KoS and it's major addition to lower level players, Achievements.
