Ok so I got the game now am able to log and all but I still can't play, in the top left hand of the Launchpad it says updating, but its taking forever, Its been going for hours and hours and still isn't done. At one point all the blue and orange were full but it still was updating stuff. Is this normal? And is this always going to be like this when I want to log on to a character, I am yet to play the game.

Very normal when you first get the game, there's been a lot of updates. But it won't be like this ever again so don't worry Smiley: smile

Just keep an eye on the update from time to time, make sure that the launchpad doesn't keep repeating the same download over and over. I went over my limit because of this, the game downloaded the same voicepack several times, well to be honest about 1gb worth of it I believe.

But normally, a big update like the one you are having is indeed a one time thing. Some patches are fairly big, and ofcourse when there are expansions and adventure packs being introduced, lots is added too. But there is nothing as big as the first download.

How do I know if its downloading it more than once, and what should I do if it is? I think it might be happening to me.

Well, in my case the same file took about half an hour and was still not done. That's not right, so I stopped the download, started it up again and it downloaded it properly.

Ok, I'm sure this is the dumbest question every asked in the history of this site, but how do you make your first toon, in the top left of the lauch pad it now says update complete but where do I go to make my toon?

There should be a large button that says play, right under the update bar lol.

Well, thats not good because the only thing that was under the update bar was dowload. Even though it said update complete, so I exited and logged in again now its updating again. And every time it updates it takes like 8 hrs for it to finish. I've been updating for like 3 days straight now and am yet to play. Starting to get annoying.

There are optional downloads (managed under Download tab) that will give you everything we have been getting since November 2004.

The biggest bundle was a new batch of voice-overs for many NPC's throughout the land. It came in 400MB chunks over several weeks, so you can imagine it's quite large.

You can go to your download options and disable it, I believe it's called Optional Content. Under that same window, see what other content you have been defaulted to download. If you paid for adventure and expansion packs, and they are available as digital downloads, then you will add that to your long list of things-to-download.

8-hour updates sounds like you're working from a modem, so expect to have to get a lot downloaded oh so slowly.
