is because I would like to play with people that have similar tastes and likes, and for the most part, those same interests have been met. I would like to RP and to PvP as well is just a bonus. Also through my travels in MMO's, RP servers tend to have a more mature population of people then other types of servers.

So far the community has been great. Pleasant people, no leet speak, and very helpful as well! I did run by one person named "Gonorrhea" which is the only case I can remember of someone abusing the naming conventions in place for RP servers (or are the naming rules for all servers?) and basically I was wondering:

I'd imagine that most people joined RP to get away from names like this, and the behaviours that are frequently attached to them. Is there any "name police" going on for situations like this? Could I contact a GM or report it etc? (Please don't flame me for being a "rat" or whatnot, but I don't think that a Roleplaying server or on Norrath in general is the place for anyone to be reminded of the crap that goes on in real life. Part of the enjoyment to me of playing a game like this, is to get away from the hustle and bustle and pressures of real life. Sit back, have a good time.)

Or (back on topic) is a name like the one mentioned above most likely to level up as he please without any trouble? Basically I'm wondering how many people RP on RP servers and the seriousness of it. I also heard about being tagged for RP. How does one do this?

You could probably petition to a GM. I'm sure they don't want names like that either.

There are all kinds of people on Lucan DLere that RP to some extent. I have seen many "battles" of emotes between evil and good players. They are quite fun to watch. I have also been involved in one. I met two Dark Elves in Antonica (this was before dueling) and we had a blast RP'ing. They were both necromancers and I was telling them to get off our land with their filth. They threatened to turn my dead brethren against me. Good times.

To tag yourself as "Roleplaying" just type /roleplay in the command line. It pretty much acts the same as the /anon command.

Yes, you can report the offender in a petition and his name will probably be changed. If you have a screen shot, that might also help although I don't know how you would submit it.

The biggest smile in this event will undoubtedly be that he will be given an un-changeable name that he does not get to select. Having already demonstrated an inability to choose wisely, the kharma police will choose for him!

Chances are it will be something like "fluffy" or "tiger".

Who said the dev's don't have a sense of humor... or irony!

I could care less what people name their charactors and to be honest I have little respect for the tattle tails who petition a person over a bad name. Now if your on a RP server that is a whole other story I will agree that type of stuff doens't need to be on their. If a person wants a somewhat funny name they don't need to be on a RP server. I actually tried RP on eq1 once but people was just WAY too much into their role. Every Ogre player talked like a baby and you got screamed at if you ever said something that didn't fit a medevil style game (I hear that has kinda calmed down though since they implemented chat channels though)

Anyways one time in EQ1 somebody petitioned my monks name. Of course this person didn't have the guts to tell me his name (those are the worst!). Anyways my Monks name whas Shytor (pronounced Shy-Tore). When making this charactor I had tried several ways to get it in a different spelling but they was taken. WEll apparently this person thought it was too similar to Sh8ter and so did the GM. Now personally I think a person would have to be fairly dirty minded themselves to even catch that, and in all honesty I couldn't figure out what the problem was till the GM told me what it looked like. So I was forced to change the name and I suppose a mark was put against my account. Name was changed to Shylore which wasn't what I really wanted :/

I personally get a kick out of people with funny names. It seems like 90% of the time these players are low level and it will be punishment enough when they get into higher level gameplay and nobody groups with them. But again I don't like people who petition behind your back (IE tattle) and don't even have the guts to confront you. IF you are that offended by a name then have the guts to tell the person, or heaven forbid just /ignore them and go on.
