So I just got to lvl 2o with my sage and my recipes all call for CArbon ink, Ash quills, adn tapa paer. Does anyone know wher eI can get these things? thanks
You make them or buy them from other players through the broker.
They are all tier 3 sub-combines. Woodworkers make the quills and paper and alchemists make the ink. Or you could make the quills and paper using the alt-woodworking skill and make the ink with the alt-alchemy skill.

Just to add to what OBD said...
If you go back to your wholesaler society, you can purchase the Apothecary and Timbercraft books to make your own ink, quills and paper. That's the one you were able to join right away, not the scholar society where you buy your scholar/sage books.
Your apothecary and timbercraft skills will be very low at this point, just keep spamming your reactions and they will go up in no time.
