Thinking about rejoining...Follow

Thinking about rejoining, but, I'm kind of curious about how the game is doing. I had this game on release day, and played for about 2 months. I had alot of fun during that time, but my MMO of 1 1/2 years at that time (FFXI) drug me back. Now, however, I've quit FFXI for good, and am looking for another MMO to go to.
My question is, if I rejoin EQ2 now, would I be totally alone as a little nooblet again? or is there always plenty of lower level players? Is the economy to the point where it would be a real struggle to catch up and earn enough money to get decent stuff? About how long does it take to hit the cap (not that I'm in a rush. just curious), and, speaking of that... has the cap changed since release? Please include any other info you'd find interesting to a returning player who only played for 2 month's at release ^^

There is still plenty of low levels to group with, so that isn't realyl a problem. Economy wise it is also still reasonablly stable. Alot of your collection quests items have skyrocketed but otherwise it isn't too bad. Tradeskill harvests have also gone up (tier 2 roots are 10 to 20 silver each now) but for the most part things are still affordable. Making money is also abit easier now even at lower levels. It can be ruff trying to get spells and armor between lvl 1 to 19 because there are very few tradeskillers making stuff in that tier, and most people just sell looted armor to vendors now. But really vendor armor is enough to get by with till 20 IMO

As far as trying to max out well since they raise the level cap every expansion it could really take forever. The max cap is lvl 70 now, and I imagine it will be 80 in about 3 to 4 months when they release yet another high level expansion. Something I really don't like in eq2 is they don't seem to care about anybody who isn't within 5 levels of the max levels. Getting to lvl 50 didn't take me too long, but 50+ is a horrible grind IMO. Even in a good exp group I get about .25% exp per kill and I have found it is actually harder to form groups at 50+ then iw as at lower levels. It seems like alot of players get really picky at higher levels and only want to group with people they are best friends with, guilded with, etc.

Anyways I think the game is still in good shape and can still be welcoming to new players. Just don't expect to max yourself out too quick unless your a power player.

Actually we've had 2 expansions and 2 level increases, but SoE have also stated that we shouldn't expect an automatic level increase with every expansion.

My bet would be there won't be another level increase for 12 months, i.e. none with the next expansion Smiley: smile

SoE have also admitted their plan to release 4 Adventure packs a year has come off the rails. Not sure what that means, maybe they decided to concentrate on expansions (think I read 2 a year?)

thanks for all the replies, but does anyone have any server suggestions from someone willing to take me under their wing and re-teach me the ropes?
