You know I thouhgt most of the really childish people were left behind somewhere. I haven't seen any real displays of ignorance until this weekend.

I had a pick-up group working (lowest lvl 25, 2 27, and a mentor to 27) on the Lightbringer HQ. We had been killing the named orcs and all we needed was Gaer the most rare of the spawns. We were none to sure just how things worked so at first we would run up and down along the hill range attacking named orcs hoping to spawn his sorry bunch. I had just started to attack one of the commanders Grika something or other (whom we had allready killed numerous times) when a group mate asks me to invite this 32 dirge. I tried but because the attack had allready commenced I couldn't. I tried to feign death and then yelled to break the encounter. We ended up killing him and apologizing. I also told our group that if that happened again we would yell to break the encounter and then run until the mob lost interest. I didnt tell him this though.

We later discoverd that if we just sat upon this hill and continued to kill Raeg and his boys eventually and hopefully Gaer would spawn. While we were doing this the shout channel had become active with this individual who had wanted to be invited into our group. Oh, and I did invite him after the kill be he turned it down. I think everyone in our group but me ended up putting him on ignore because he was being very obnoxious. He wasn't saying anything about our group but just derogatory comments about anything and everything. People had asked him to stop using the shout channel and he just laughed and called them names.

I am a 2-boxer and while we were sitting on our hill I noticed that he was sitting there with us but invised. Only my mystic could see him. I told the group and we discussed his intelligence. I can only assume that because he was on ignore he must have gotten upset because no one would talk to him. Then he starts saying in say that if we didn't invite him he would steal our kill. None of us wanted him in our group because of his lack of moral fibre and lack of courtesy. So after 3 hours of waiting for this spawn he did exactly what he said he would do. He stole our kill.

A couple of our group members in "OOC" started to warn others in the zone about what he had done and that they should be cautious. That was it. Then others in the zone began to tell him how awful he was. He then in shout claims that we stole from him in the first place and that we reap what we sow. Others in the zone then pointed out that a 4 hour spawn and 10 min spawn are two different matters. I cautioned our group to say no more on the matter and we didn't. But it was amazing how the rest of the zone climbed down this bozo's back for us.

I can only say that the Sony gods must have been smiling on us because the very next spawn on the hill was the same mob he had stolen and we had waited for.

I wrote down his name and his guild and looked them up.

-----------------------------------------------
Here are his guild's rules:
-----------------------------------------------
Guild Rules
The rules are simple... Be nice..
"Be nice," Dalton, Road House.
"Be nice until I tell you it's time to not be nice," Dalton, Road House.

Our rules are pretty simple. Don't be a jerk! Leave that up to leadership, they are best at it!

Seriously don't cause problems with other players when you can help it. Try not to be offensive to anyone in or out of the guild. If you are having a seriuos problem with someone in or out of the guild please talk to one of the officer/leaders before you get too upset.

The point of this guild is a place for people who want to have fun, play the game, meet some new people, help each other with grouping, raiding, tradeskilling, etc. and not to deal with or become problems.

If you have anyone you want to put your reputation behind and invite into the guild please send their name to the guild leaders/officers.

Thanks!
--------------------------------------------

My intention was to report him to his guild. The only problem is that he is one of the only two officers. So I guess this is where this ends up. The guy was a jerk.

We ended up calling in a couple of recruits and completed the Heritage Quest. I think we were all glad to be able to leave his zone. He can have Freeport.

There are always childish people playing. Perhaps this wouldn't have happened if Sony would boost the spawn time on some mobs (I for the live of me just cannot even spawn the first part of this quest, that lion is driving me nuts), but in all honesty I doubt it.

Some people will find offense in every single detail and then find pleasure in ruining things for others. Best thing to do is to ignore him. And hopefully get to the mob before he does, which didn't work out this time. (lucky for the speedy respawn!)

You should report him to the other Officer then (or GL).

How ludicrous for them to have those rules Smiley: lol

I've been the victim a few times also, and was also outraged. However, the offender faded in memory, and I eventually got the spawn I needed.

I'm glad certain mobs for quests have long spawn times, that makes the quest completion that much sweeter. No long spawns or difficult encounters would trivialize it into mediocrity.

I hate it when you go into a area looking for X mob for X city task. It seems like all city tasks involve mobs like An Orc (whatever). Then you go to the area and if there is 25 orcs in that area 5 of them will be the ones you actually need. It was never much of a problem prior to the server mergers, but thanks to the overpopulated servers it is a problem. Anyways your not the only person trying to do this task and you need 19 to 22ish mobs and you get there and see 1 or 2 others your level. You invite them to join the group and then they refuse to join you because they plan to log when they are done, ignore you, etc. I mean come on if your after the same mobs why fight over them?

I recall SOE stating that eq2 would remove the need to CAMP mobs. They was far from the truth on that statement. The only difference in eq2 is you can get updates with a entire group on a mob instead of 1 person at a time like in eq1.

I think an even more viable option is to lower the amount of people needed to open up a new instance of the same zone. Drop it down to 30 people a zone. I could almost guarantee three instances of the same zone at once. Should lessen the amount of KSing and rude people.

That said, I'm with you Frong. I hate when people do that. I had a situation like that in RoV. Two guildies and I needed clay crawlers and two people were there fighting them. I asked very politely if they would like to group since we all appeared to be going after the same mobs. Their repsonse: attacking three clay crawlers right in front of me. Smiley: motz

Sound's like a lot of the people on PvP servers in WoW, ignorant, and immature.
