Hi, I was wondering If I were to Download the Kingdom of Sky expansion from the station website, would it also come with the original Everquest II game in the download? When I checked the list of Downloads, I didnt see the original Everquest II, but I heard the Expansion KoS, comes with the Original game as well? I have no Everquest II game, so I was wondering if it would be possible to purchase the Digital Download of KoS, and still recieve the Regular game as well within the download. Please let me know!

You are correct, download KoS, get basic EQ2 for free.

Even though the zones in KoS are for levels 60-70, it also brings in other game enhancements like the new Ability system.

Careful there - I'm almost positive that the download for KoS does not include the original game - the basic game only comes in the store bought package... ok now I'm positive...

quoted from the Sony site KoS FAQ:

Do I have to own the original EverQuest II before purchasing Kingdom of Sky?
Not if you purchase it at retail as opposed to downloading it directly from SOE. The retail version includes the original version of EverQuest II and Kingdom of Sky, so you get both for the price of an expansion. Be aware that the retail version is CD only.

ack! Good catch!

Maybe I'll find out when I get my prize winnings from EQ2summoners.com where I won a KoS box set recently. :)

I don't see why people pay to digital download. The only plus I see to it is you get to be one of the first to enter the new zones, but after its been live for 1 or 2 days it doesn't really matter. You have to spend forever and a day to download the software (even on high speed it takes awhile). Also digital downloads NEVER have the same free items that the boxed version has. And in most cases it is the same price to buy it in a box. Id just assume get a pretty box with pretty cd's, a pretty collectors coin, and a pretty map that is otherwise useless. And I also like to see SOE not steal as much money since they have to pay for the box/cd's, as well as the retailer who sold it for them.

In fact sometimes you can catch them on sale the first week they are out at local retailers. I used to get brand new eq1 expansions for $20 on release day from places like Best Buy and Circuit City.

I can give you a couple of reasons Smiley: smile

As someone who doesn't live in the US I can be guaranteed of getting the expansion at the same time as my guildies, and also it's actually a lot cheaper for me to DL than pay my local retail prices.

The digital down loads did say you needed the original version first.

I didnt buy the digital down loads to get the game first, I actually think they get released the same day. The digital downloads dont have all the gimmicks attached like the pet monkey either. But they are cheaper and I dont have to keep track of extra disks. The game actually keeps track of what I own, and any PC with EQ2 on it gets automatically gets KoS on it for my account to use.

edit-it also isnt a huge down load for me, and using disks take longer. The download happens while I play, and when released only a minor update that the disk users have to do anyway. I was on KoS in five minutes of starting the program.
