The other evening I was included in a group in Rivervale. We were happily going after nightbloods (^^^ heriocs and ^^ heriocs). The mobs were dropping like flies but they wern't dropping squat when it comes to loot.

Suddenly we spot the Epicx2 mob Level 37 that was wandering around the area we were hunting. Since we all were fairly experienced and average level was 42 or so, we decided to take him on. Epic mob went down like a sack of potatoes. I was getting excited at the possibility of UBER loot since this was the 1st Epic mob I had ever fought and won.

Mob died - no loot - not even 1 silver. Does Rivervale have a crappy loot table???

Zones like Ruins of Varsoon and Runneye have so many named encounters and Master Chests drop every other kill (it seems that way). Other members of my guild are constantly camping these zones because of that. They never even step foot in Rivervale.

Which zones, from the original eq2 and not the two expansions, drop good loot for levels 45-50?

I have done very well against the nightbloods in RV. Also the heroic fairies in the same general areas. Lots of chest drops and lots of trash drops as well. There is a named crow in some farmer's field and one evening we got him to spawn 3 or 4 times in a row. He dropped great loot each time... everyone went home fat and happy!

Over all, I'd say the loot tables for RV are pretty good...

I think his name is Shakey? I was under the impression he was a scarecrow. anyhoo, I've heard alot of people camp that particular mob due to the fact he drops nice loot.

Rivervale never dropped anything decent for me. Ive never seen the nightbloods there drop something interesting.

At your level I was wandering around in Permafrost and Solusek's eye. PF was cool, i liked how it looked, loot was ok. With revamped SE lately I heard it is a good place to adventure too. If you are patient enough to do the accesses in the Obelisk of Lost Souls (patient because at first you will have to fight level 37ish mobs) you can find mobs up to level 50 in there and theres decent loot tables in there (i played almost exclusively there for level 38-45...was by far my favorite T5 zone)

Don't forget though that in the past months they have revamped RE and RoV's loot tables, that is why you now find some fat loot in there. It wasnt the case, like, lets say, 6 months ago, and it was to the point that I was farming into CoB instead of RoV because loot was much better there + it's always empty and I had all the nameds for myself hehehehehehe.

So I would give a try to SE if I were you, they did the same with that zone they did with RE and RoV, which means (prolly, havent been there since) every named and their grandmother will drop a master chest with some fat loot in it. PF is cool looking, you might want to try your luck there, also obelisk is ok, drops some decent ebon gear that is an upgrade for a lot of other common dropped gear. If I were you I would stay far from Cazic-Thule, unless you have some business there, its the crappiest of the T5 zones, xp is not nearly as good as other T5 zones and loot is...pathetic, except some of the named mobs for screaming mace, but even then, they are often camped for that said HQ...just my opinion over stuff ive seen over time. Of course you are free to do what you want :)

And that epic you took in RV I think never drops anything :/ The level 45 one though drops some stuff if you ever want to try your luck on him.

EDITED - Also when you reach the near level 50 mark, there is return to nek castle that is fun to do (plan about 4-5 hours for the first time) loot is ok, nothing to blow your head over a wall, but Everling can drop some neat stuff (hes hard if you go there before everyone is 50). You need a special access quest to complete it, that you grab(bed) when you first take care of the first instance of Nek Castle.

Thanks for all your help.

A buddy of mine may mentor me in the Obelisk of lost Souls. We will need a healer but I should be able to tank while he nukes.

I have been in that zone before but didn't stay long because my level was too low.

Maybe this weekend...
