Hello ,,,I have played GW,WOW and DnD online,,,never played eq don't know why but I recently subcrided to fileplanet and they offered an eq2 trial,,,,After playing it for four hours straight I am switching,,,May not have millions of subcribers (I read about 500,000 Hehe)but the game is better all around,,The graphics, combat, the variety of enemies, spells, I mean there is so much more of everything...no more boring dungeons that look the same,,,I am canceling my dnd prepurchase tomorrow and am buying eq2...But I have a couple of questions if u could please help me:
1-what expansion should I buy??
2-does the eq atlas include the expansion maps
3-I usually play barbarian or warrior,,,Is that a good option for group quests
4-Is it easy to find groups and where??

TY and don't forget I am a newb here at eq,,,Thanks again

1. If you purchase Kingdom of Sky, it comes with a free basic EQ2 game. Other expansion is Desert of Flames, not really needed at beginning levels, or much at all.

2. Not sure, but there is a fantastic in-game map system that is a free download. Start at EQ2interface.com and go to EQ2Maps.

3. Those are fighters, and they fill the traditional tank role. Guardians are on the low end of DPS but have the best defense. While Berzerkers and Monks are on the higher end of DPS.

4. There are people in all zones and all levels. WHen you start to head out away from the city and adventure overland, you will find a vast amount of critters everywhere. You can announce that you are LFG, or check the LFG list and form up your own group.

When you decide to play, consider the Najena server. It has a very bustling population, lot's of guilds large and small, and folks in all zones.

Look me up, I can help you get started. :)

Right now the best buy is to buy the kingdom of sky are your local wal-mart/ebgames/gamestop/etc etc. As stated it includes kingdom of sky expansion and the original game. Plus you will get the ingame items for a aviak pet and a plant pet. While the kingdom of sky zones are all meant for lvl 55+, at lvl 20 you can start earning AP points. AP points give you minor enhancements like extra stats etc.

There is 2 adventure packs. Personally I wouldn't buy neither of them. While they was popular back in the day, now adays they are abandoned and seldomly used. None of them really offer any Must have loot, and they involve long drawn out access quests to really even use. Once again this is just my opinion. The first Adventure pack had a lvl 35 spell, however you do not have to own the expansion to obtain that spell.

The Desert of Flames expansion is nice once you hit about lvl 40 to 45ish depending on your class. Healer classes probably are easiest as far as walking right into a group. Its not uncommon to have a healer who is 8 to 10 levels lower then the tank of the group. Tanks also get groups fairly easy, however people think you gotta be higheer then the mobs you are tanking sometimes. I don't know how many groups I have joined where every single mob is low blue to green. More often then enough you will see groups with lvl 40 healers and as a lvl 45 tank they will tell you that you are too low for the group. DPS classes while important to a group are also usualyl plentiful.

I've been looking at the EQ2 atlas - I love paper maps! And according to the ads, yes, it includes maps for the newest expansion and also the last expansion. The package also includes maps for both of the adventure packs.
