I have a level 47 necromancer. I went to buy a horse and the horses that cost 1p, 2p, and 3p are grey. The horses that cost 5platt and up are white. Why is it that I can not buy the lower horses? I know they are slower. I can't afford the 5platt horse but I would buy the 3platt horse. However, it is grey I'm afraid I will not be able to equip and use the lower costing horses as the window when I open up the vendor that sells horses shows the lower costing horses writing in grey not white like the higher costing horses.
You will be able to use the lower horses they just will not have the run speed of the higher lvl horses thus are designed for a lower level person. At your level range I would almost not buy a horse though. In a couple level you should be able to do the carpet quest which wont cost you anything and will give you a carpet with a 40% speed buff.
Until you complete the Threads of the Desert quest for the carpet, I suggest you stick to Spirit Totems of the Wolf. They are dirt cheap and each one has 5 30-minute charges.

But a quest reward that only gives a 40% movement rate increase is useless as well. The quest would only be worth the xp.

Well yeah a 40% increase is useless since I already got a 44% or 46%.
Thank you for your suggestions. They are very helpful. I started the carpet quest yesterday looks like tonight LFG to complete carpet quest parts 2, 3 and 4. Very helpful thnks again all who responded.
